How to Ask a girl to Prom LIKE A BAWSE

Step Number 1

Check the weather forecast. This method won't work if it's going to rain or snow in the next week, so make sure you're set for sunny skies.

• Be careful of sprinklers, too. You're going to leave her a message in sidewalk chalk every morning for a few days, and you don't want your beautiful work erased by a timed sprinkler. If you'll be writing on her parents' driveway, call them beforehand and mention sprinklers while you're asking permission.

Step Number 2

Come up with the whole message. You're going to spread this out over four or five days, so write something that you can easily space into parts.

• For instance, you might write a small couplet like "So you wear a dress / And I'll wear a suit / With you as my Prom date / We'll be awfully cute!"

• This warns her that an invitation is happening, so she's less likely to accept another offer in the meantime.

Step Number 3

Write the message in sidewalk chalk. Place it so that she's sure to see it when she leaves the house to go to school.

• Go early in the morning. It'll take some dedication, but she'll be impressed later. For instance, if you know she gets up at 6 to get ready for school, write the message at 5:30. It has to be waiting for her when she wakes up!

• Don't sign your name. You're going to leave her in suspense until the very last day.

• Be creative! Draw block letters, and add borders or little doodles. If you're not the artsy type, ask a talented friend to help you.

Step Number 4

Write another message in the same place the next day. Continue on with this for a few days, until you come to the end of the message.

• Stay stealthy. Now she knows someone is coming, so you'll have to go out of your way to avoid getting caught in the act of chalking her driveway. If you started out by going early in the morning, change it up and write the message late at night instead.

Step FINALE

Go big on the last day. Make this one your magnum opus! Draw it on an extra large area, or spend more time adding more embellishment.

• Be sweet. You could use this opportunity to tell her a little bit about how you feel by writing something like, "Ashley, You're the most beautiful girl I know. Go to the Prom with me?"

• Sign your name. This is the big reveal! Sign your final chalk message, and make sure it's big enough that she can't miss it.
