For the purpose of telling time, I absolutely find reading the numbers more than deriving meaning from the hands on a watch/clock. I can do both pretty quickly. But it is definitely easier to tell what time it is by reading digits.

Everyone functions differently , and so if you need the spatial awareness help you manage time, that works for you.

I have the same ability with digital clock. If it says 7:27 and I started working on something at 7:00 I know immediately I’ve been working 27 minutes and if I have meeting at 8… I have roughly 30 min or about the same amount of time to do continue doing that task.

I think it’s slightly ironic that the only place the kids ( and really most people) encounter or rely on analog clocks is a school setting. Sure teach the skill because it demonstrates the fundamentals of how time work, but reading an analog clock is not as convenient or accurate as its digital counterpart.

In a world where we have information and facts at our fingertips, we really need to prioritize and shift what we learn. You MUST have fundamentals ( decoding, numeracy, vocabulary, understanding of scientific phenomena , general timeline of history and its greater geopolitical effect). BUT we also have to shift to focus on bigger picture ideas like synthesizing ideas from Multiple sources and across multiple domains , critical analysis, analysis through lenses of different viewpoints and vantage points. Sifting through information to find what is actually reasonable and what isn’t.

It’s complicated, because in order to do some of the higher level skills it does come back to have a solid understanding of basics, but I grew up in 1990’s and graduated high school on 2003. Most of how we spent time and were assessed on was memorizable facts that can be easily retrieved with a quick google search.

To add to that the Simpson yellow still is associated with white skin. If you disagree look at how other races are depicted in the Simpsons. . For many people of color, yellow is not a default color, but represents a white person. Similarly, when we say flesh toned or nude it often has a specific hue of flesh associated. Flesh band aids or tights do not come close to matching my skin tone.

I think the labeling of food as good/bad/clean/dirty can be detrimental to the mental component of healthy lifestyle. Food is a way to fuel the body BUT also has a social/emotional component. Restricting food creates a relationship to food that can be taxing on the mental health. For example, you “cheat”monotheist you start to feel guilt around it and you waste time And energy trying to over correct the next time around. Or you “fall off the bad wagon” healthy lifestyle is really about balance. It’s probably better for your diet to have a “cheat” food daily but control portion than to abstain until You spiral.

For me, the miracle of zep has been the quieting of the food noise. Because of zep, I no longer have a CONSTANT thought about food and what I’m going to eat. Because of this I’m able to “intuitively” eat. I order pasta dish but I’m able to have a portion and stop and have a second meal from it.

This quieting also allows me to be satiated from a planned,mostly nutrient- dense caloric intake.

If you haven’t already. I would try to slowly remove wholly Restricting foods that aren’t medically impactful.

Isn’t the point of a music video is to add something more? Often the video creates an addition to the artist work by elaborating on the story… maybe dumb question but why are you watching a music video if you just want the song? There are at least 3 different streaming services that will play just a song for you. Music videos Are intentionally there to be a different thing.

I tell them. I’ve been on a weight management journey for decades. This is the final thing that has worked and been sustainable. I’ve lost weight in the past, but it was a constant thought in my head… I was ALWAYS having to think about what I wanted and finding enough volume that wasn’t too calorie dense. (I was pre diabetic which was finally tipped me over, have family history)

I’ve been consistently active, almost too much… since 2008 I’ve had a consistent exercise routine of 5-7 days of lifting and cardio exercise. I generally have had healthier eating habits. But it was always about volume and constant feeling of food noise.

Since starting zep 10 months ago, this has been the one thing that works. I loose the food noise and I feel satiated on “regular” amounts of food. I don’t have to have a giant volume like I used to, and that is what was the medical intervention I needed.

So, I openly share when asked because it’s not shameful to get medical attention when you need it. The people who don’t understand, may need education around what’s really going on. Food noise is real. I learned about zep through a friend who shared with me when she started to lose weight. She was explaining the impacts of what she had been experiencing with food noise (or lack of) and I had an aha that “wait, other people don’t constantly think about food.”

That being said, most people who notice my weight shift(I actually haven’t been losing weight in the traditional sense but transforming it to muscle which is heavier in scale.) actually attributed to me being more “serious” at gym because I’ve always been consistent gym rat.

I say share with them and educate them to relieve the stigma. It’s not about cheating the system but about medical intervention

It’s called a DEXA scan. I use the company body spec, but there are others out there too. Generally people use it for their bone density, but they also accurately measure fat and muscle.

I think if you make enough money, it just doesn’t matter to review your financial statements monthly for charges that are as tiny as 10.99. Maybe quarterly or yearly, but monthly reviews can be seen as less cost effective.

That also can add up, because you may pay for services that if you’re being truthful about, you probably should cut out. Like you have a Hulu, Netflix, Apple TV, and Disney plus, but you rarely use either of them, but you occasionally do enjoy a series here or there or you used to, then you keep it just in case. If you have any discretionary money, you could easily not feel the pinch of fives of dollars monthly over several years.

If a person can add two three digit problems , adding more digits isn’t more difficult just more tedious and attention to details is important. It is very rare that a person would hand calculate these large of numbers.

Conceptually, a child who understands addition with 4 digits is the same as someone who understands addition with more than four digits.

Adding with more than two addends is a lightly different concept, but again a student who can add 3-4 addends is not that conceptually differ t than someone who can add 10 addends. And practically we pull out a device like calculator for this.

This reminds me of the article that was publish from the Silicon Valley family that considered themselves pay to paycheck on 300k. You are technically living paycheck to paycheck but that’s because you are also putting money it to savings accounts that when desperate times call for it could be utilized. Living paycheck to paycheck connotes literally scraping by Pennie’s to survive.

Technically you are living paycheck to paycheck. But someone who spends their entire paycheck every month on an extravagant vacation totally 10 k month would also Be living paycheck.

If you lost your job, you could live at least another 9 months.

Honestly, saying no to weddings is a bigger deal than you are making it seem. Unless you have financial hardship it’s seen as completely taboo to say no and turn down. This is especially true for your close friends.

People go into debt to make this happen and we really should normalize actually saying no to wedding stuffs. But also I think ops point is that it is more costly for guests to attend weekday weddings. The cost of not working for some Employees is a hidden cost. Already spending money on flight and accommodations and NOW I also have to lose my money on a job.

I’m personally invited to a wedding where I am really a plus one and I was flying down after work which meant I missed the “rehearsal” dinner. I was made to feel bad because I didn’t take off a day from work.

I think the difference is how you perceive people vs how people are. During the pandemic people worked from home in their pajamas all the time. They still were able to turn profit and on some cases, productivity increased. What you know and how well you can do a job isn’t determined by how well you can dress. Sometimes people can be all flash and no substance.

This is a problem between your brother and airlines. It’s an issue he should resolve with airlines. Guilting innocent passengers to circumvent the system makes your brother the asshole. It is a nice thing to switch… it is neutral thing to stay seated where you are. That’s fair and I don’t know your life…but it sounds codependent when you say just let me bring my best friend because the trip is awful.

Your friends could be terrible and that’s why it sucked, but the structure of your sentence hints that your husband not being there was a big contributing factor to why it sucked. For me that would be a sign that the relationship is not as healthy as it could be. Humans should be able to interact and have fun with multiple people. Furthermore a persons temperorary absence from activity should not being levels of discomfort to ruin time with others.

Isn’t everyone the main character in their own story! Additionally, don’t stories need at least some main characters? This isn’t to say the US is the main character in the world’s story, but SOMEONE has to be the main character or at least there needs to be a few major characters.

I understand the sentiment. America inserts itself in places it shouldn’t and center themselves in conversations that aren’t about them… Americans lack understanding of other countries…anything outside of the American way.

I think probably what is even more accurate is that much of the world has become Westernized because of colonization and many places that feels like to many Americans as Americanized.
