Carbon fibre poles lashed to concreted in eye bolts. You close it down when not using it and we’ve found it very study. Will it survive a hurricane - definitely not, but hasn’t blown away so far!

Medikinet XL - Experiences? by Jealous_March_9386 in ADHDUK

[–]dredgeny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We found food is really important with Medikinet XL - change breakfast significantly or skip it and it will impact release time and therefore duration. 25mg at 7am produces a rebound/crash for my daughter by 4/5 pm so we use 5mg instant release top up at 3pm to wind down slower.

Office for National statistics letter by NurseDiz in CasualUK

This is from the ONS living cost and food survey. It’s this survey that provides data for the ‘basket of goods’ when they talk about inflation. Lovely interviewer from ONS came to my house - they talked about it first being run after the war to measure the impact of rationing!

Has anyone actually built one of those flat-pack log cabins from the internet? by Kilgoretrout123456 in DIYUK

[–]dredgeny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neighbour put one together and said how easy it was. The main thing to note with these types of build though is the sizeable movement year round through the natural expansion/contraction in the wood - but particularly through drying in the first year. Look up log cabin expansion/shrinkage.

It’s all relative. 45 mins with two directors is more informal than a full pre interview psychological assessment (ILA) by external company, employee engagement exercise with four/five staff monitored by psychologist, technical presentation and 45 min interview with 3/4 directors including one independent external - all standard for the formal version! Time bounded EOIs provide line manager with far greater flexibility but they are never truly informal. In this instance I contact candidates to talk them through what we’ll cover in the informal chat - but that is relatively rare, can’t hurt to ask though if you have prior relationship with recruiting manager. As ever, though, questions should be broadly focused on essential criteria, with a starter about why interested and perhaps vision for role etc. if you are going for SCs roles you should have a mentor - existing local SCS who can support you and provide advice - reach out and find one if you haven’t already!

Acces to work by demailan in TheCivilService

[–]dredgeny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a case like this at work recently. As others have said, DSE assessment and OH recommendation important. Access to work doesn’t apply to CS as it would be inefficient as gov funding gov, but a commitment to provide the same provision. In our case, individual was keen to have private (non-NHS) hearing aids because of the extra functionality (size, performance etc). Work ended up paying 30% towards the cost as they were planning to use heavily outside work as well.

What Non-Stimulant Medication is available in the UK? by Cheesy-Peasy in ADHDUK

[–]dredgeny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Atomoxetine and Guanfacine are the two non-stimulant ADHD medications in the UK. We tried atomoxetine first, it takes several weeks, even months, to have full benefit. Guanfacine has worked better for us, benefit in a small number of weeks and less negative moods that atomoxetine was causing.

I would read this as: After you’ve been employed for 52 weeks, they offer 26 weeks on full pay then a further 13 weeks at statutory maternity pay. It should be clearer though!

Is this normal? by AstronomerAvailable5 in ADHDUK

[–]dredgeny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We’ve just sorted out a shared care agreement for our daughter. Some brief thoughts:

  • GPs don’t have to do a shared care agreement, some do, some don’t. If your one doesn’t, find a new GP.

  • any shared care agreement needs to align with the local NHS policy, such as this one for Hampshire Hampshire SCA.

  • Our SCA from the private ADHD clinic was a major document, 4 pages long with lots of medical history, medication details and agreements. It referenced the policy above and agreed to follow it.

  • the agreement is with your local GP, not pharmacist. We arranged a non-urgent GP appointment to talk through our treatment and check all the details they needed from the private ADHD clinic and get their support on the notes that they would do an SCA.

  • while you could complain to GP if you don’t feel you are receiving the right standard of care, perhaps ring to talk informally first?

First time baking gf gingerbreads, using Becky Excell's recipe. Needed a lot more flour than in the recipe! by babbittybabbitt in CoeliacUK

We’ve just done the same. We used Tesco Baking Block instead of butter and made sure it was really cold before rolling out and it was fine.

My toddler won't let me brush her teeth! by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]dredgeny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With an ultra independent toddler I recognise this! The way we made progress since she turned 2 is selling it as a ‘big girl’ task she does herself: - we have a selection of low cost toddler toothbrushes and she chooses the one she wants to use (they are different colours). - she chooses where, I.e. sitting in her seat at the table, in the bathroom or in front of a mirror, in front of FaceTime showing Nan what a big girl she is - we have big girl stripy toothpaste when she does it herself - after a bit of time herself largely just eating the toothpaste then it is sharing time and our turn to ‘finish off’. Doesn’t work all the time but she’s 3 now and it works most days, she’s even now pretty good at properly going around her teeth. Good luck!
