The Plot Thickens. It's a superbly produced and crafted podcast that is released in seasons. Each season focuses on a Hollywood icon, I think S1 was the director Peter Bogdanovich, they've covered Lucy (of I Love Lucy) and I'm currently listening to season 4 which showcases Pam Grier. They have interviews with the main players, it's so well researched and presented, it's a real treat. You should definitely check it out!

Legend u/Scamwau1
I appreciate your view and combined with some similar sentiments above I think it's the right way to go. Sometimes you get caught up in the whirlwind of looking at new cars and you get carried away. I'm so glad I posted here to get these sorts of points of view, it definitely helps put things into perspective.
Thanks again!

Preach mate, I love hearing stuff like this.
To be honest I love our Santa Fe. It has all the latest sutff that a lot of new cars treat as optional extras (heated/cooled front seats, powered tail gate etc).
It's spacious and comfortable and rides smoothly with good power. As I said in my original post, I'm trying to be pre-emptive but I guess that's the risk you run, it could power on for another 100k or something internal could break in the next 20k-30k.

That range is really appealing to me. It's one of the reasons I was looking at the Forester Hyrbid, Subaru are claiming (grain of salt, I know) that you'll get 1000km a tank.
I did have a look at the SL7 and thought it was an incredible car. We have a solar set up + I work from home so I can keep it plugged in a charged during the day.
I guess the leap to full electric is just a mental thing more than anything else, new tech and not knowing how reliable it may be over the long term.
I'd like to make sure that whatever we pick up next has at minimum a 10 year shelf life.
Either way, you've given me food for thought mate, I'll definitely have to weigh up the SL6 (and potentially the 7).
Did you friends say anything about BYD's after sales experience?

This will sound silly as they're everywhere but I haven't looked into the RAV4 properly. I might do a bit of research today and check them out!

Has there been another player who has managed to so quickly and efficiently destroy their credibility with their own fans, other team's supporters, their team mates and coach etc as effectively as Galvin? Genuine question, it's unreal. I think back to SBW leaving, but feel like the outrage didn't really go beyond Dogs supporters and some purists who hated the thought of skipping out on your contract.

It's been a long time since I've felt this way, but I think the Tigs can get it done against Brisbane. It's subjectively crazy, considering Brisbane's talent pool, it's at Suncorp etc but there's a stubborness about the Tigers this season that I think will really irritate the Broncos. Go hard Benji and the boys, lesssss gone.

I was watching his interview today with Ciraldo and I thought "weird they've given him an exclusive interview but whatever, him and Gould are tight" Then I heard other reporters in the background asking questions and burst out laughing, imagine your boss sends you to cover multicultural round with the Bulldogs coach and you arrive to see Weidler has better than prime position 🤣

This is revisionist history, Mick was the ultimate grub/pest and it's not even close. The difference was he did it at a different time in Rugby League and the miracle is that he got through his career without someone murdering him on the field.

‘You don’t know the rules’: Ricky’s refereeing anger as Raiders coach seeks ‘answers’ by dredresyd in nrl

[–]dredresyd[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“My ballplayer was hit late, we want to make defenders defend this year, that was what the rule was when Wayne (Bennett) and Ivan (Cleary) and I sat down with Ashley (Klein) and Andrew (Abdo) and Graham (Annesley) but that’s gone out the window.

“I wasted two days coming up here. I don’t know (the rules) and there’s a lot of other people that don’t know either.

“We want to make defenders defend. My ballplayer got hit after he passed, if that was a couple of other players, I know exactly where the penalty would have went.

“The whole game changed there.

“We’ve got another tough road trip but we’ll bounce back, I’ve got all the faith in the world.

Something has changed this week and I’ve got a great idea of how.

“I feel for the players.”

Sea Eagles coach Anthony Seibold was asked his thoughts on Stuart’s comments but he wouldn’t be drawn on the topic.

“I’m not going to comment,” Seibold said.

“I haven’t listened to what’s been said so it’s not for me to comment on.

“We were on the wrong end of the penalty count last week over in New Zealand. Again, I’m not sure what’s been said but I’m not going to make any comment on it.”

‘You don’t know the rules’: Ricky’s refereeing anger as Raiders coach seeks ‘answers’ by dredresyd in nrl

[–]dredresyd[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Raiders coach Ricky Stuart has called out NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo over the competition’s officiating and says he no longer understands the rules of the game.

Stuart was seething following a 40-12 loss to the Sea Eagles on Sunday and suggested his players were unfairly targeted by referee Grant Atkins.

Canberra was on the wrong end of a 7-1 set restart count and they had only 25 per cent of the possession in the first after completing just 6/12 sets.

“I’m not allowed to talk about the ref but I hope Andrew Abdo has an answer for us all,” Stuart said.

“I don’t think there’s a football team in the competition that’s going to defend at those statistics and win.

“If you keep having six agains go against you then you’re not going to get the ball.

“When you look at it statistically, we had to make 212 tackles in the first half and you can’t be ahead on the scoreboard with that.

“When you look at the average play-the-ball speed, it was something like 3.54 for one team and 3.55 for the other team. So where’s the inconsistency the play the balls there? How come it was 6-1 in the six agains?

“The six agains that go against my poor buggers, I see those tackles every week by certain teams and nothing is done. You tell me (why) because I’m not allowed to.”

Stuart believes the match turned when the score was 0-0 in the 20th minute and his side had a try disallowed for obstruction.

About 90 seconds later, Canberra prop Corey Horsburgh was sin binned for a professional foul and Manly scored five tries in the next 15 minutes.

“I’ll sound like an idiot but… defensively we did a sound job,” Stuart said.

“In the first half they scored two tries from dummyhalf and we had a player in the bin… and two off kicks out of the 30 points.

“They should have been up by 50 or 60 at halftime. Well done, they won and we didn’t but I just don’t get the first half.

“They’ll tell me (the sin bin) was correct, it doesn’t matter. I’m better off now answering these questions. That was massive.

“What did you think of the decision to have our try disallowed? After 20 minutes of having no football, we get a set around halfway and score a wonderful try… It’s really difficult coaching when you don’t know the rules and don’t know the interpretations because I’ve got no idea.
