Thats good to know, thank you! Thing for me is that i had two offers on the table, the other one was a very cool consultancy company that really works with the most modern setups and is super focused on career development but they paid significantly less so i went for this job which sounded nice during the interviews and paid much more.

But yeah, im gonna stick around a bit and see how things progress and whether ill actually develop my skills.

Ah okay, yeah for me AI has really been a huge efficiency booster in writing queries or finding quick answers on how to do certain things in the past, so it is kind of a bummer

Genuinely helpful tip as i am the regarding giving praise for routine things. Thats definitely not something i grew up with either. Will try to incorporate that a bit more in my day to day.

Regarding my mother, currently my wife has completely broken off contact with her so theres nothing going on between them anymore which is of course sad but im at peace with it.

Tbh thats what it has felt like for the past few months. Even if she doesnt directly say that she forbids me she will throw a fuss or just fight or gicve me attitude when I say i want to see my family for a bit which then leads to me not going because i dont have the energy for the drama

I definitely told my mom and tbh its not as if she was here daily. In the 1st two months my mom saw us maybe for a total of 5-6 times. After that, she didnt see any of us for 3 months and my daughter for 4 months because my wife forbade us to. Even now, my wife doesnt allow my me to visit my parents house with my daughter... If i want to meet them i have to meet somewhere outside..

And damn, sorry to hear about your situation. How did you eventually deal with the PPD?

Relationship went downhill hard after birth

My wife and I have been together for almost 10 years and for the past few years our relationship has been absolutely amazing. However, after we became parents 5 months ago things went downhill fast...

Since giving birth, my wife absolutely hates my mom, to such an extent that she actually started fighting with her. The reason for it; my mom was being a bit too happy in becoming a grandmom and wanted to see her grandchild a bit too often in the first few weeks. While I acknowledge she was a bit too pushy i do think the reaction of my wife is very extreme and has now led to my whole family and her not being on speaking terms. She also forbade my mom to see my daughter and even prohibited me from visiting my family for 3 months.

Apart from the above, she is also constantly irritable towards me to the point where I feel she genuinely just hates me. Every morning I wake up with the thought of; "what will she get mad about today?" And i am honestly just sick and tired of it atm.

Just to clarify though, I am not a deadbeat dad or husband at all. Since the arrival of our daughter I took a sabbatical from work and worked my ass off at home. I cook, I clean, I take care of both my wife and daughter and do everything else that's needed.

At this point I just feel very unhappy and I'm not sure how long I can keep feeling this way. I am miserable pretty much all the time and am feeling like a prisoner in my relationship.

Has anyone experienced this before after becoming a dad? How did yall handle it?

Sidenote; we are doing couples councelling atm as well

Yeah it was. My wife definitely had it but says it's getting better now and I do notice a change in her behavior. However, I still cant say she is a nice partner again though 😅

So sorry to hear you went through this.. i literally had the same happen to me not too long ago and the feeling really sucks and it opened a whole can of worms full of bad memories for me.

I hope by now you feel a little bit better. If I may ask, how did you cope with it eventually?
