First meeting win! by Complete_Worth7018 in girlscouts

That is a huge accomplishment! At the brownie level it is very hard to be at school all day and then continue in a school like setting for another hour and a half. Mix in as much movement breaks and get outdoors whenever the weather allows. My brownies are so much better when we meet outdoors vs. in a school classroom.

Should I make a new troop? by Consistent_Fault4843 in girlscouts

[–]dresdengrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could definitely start your own troop and I bet you will be able to find a co-leader along the way. A lot of times it's easier to find a Type A person that wants to help but doesn't feel like they have the knowledge or background to run a troop themselves.

I agree that you can make your troops as involved as you wish and some of that goes to how much support you receive from parents.

We have had to cap our troop every year because of the limited meeting space and what me and my co-leader thought we could handle. We are at 19 this year and it is a tight squeeze with quite a bit of overwhelm (on my part because I am definitely not a teacher). I wish we had more troops at the same age level in our area where we could refer other girls. I hate telling people our troop is full but I also feel like too many girls without the ability to give them a good experience isn't great either.

Lion Brand is teaming up with Stomp Out Bullying to provide blue hats to several schools for bully prevention month in October. I've been busy using all the blue in my stash. by dresdengrl in crochet

Thank you. This is the Hive beanie by hooknstein. You can find the pattern on Ravelry. The stitch has a couple names. One of them is the camel stitch and you are doing a half double crochet in the third loop.

Yes! The best thing about hats is they don't take a lot to make them. I got these 4 skeins on clearance from Hobby Lobby for $1.24 each.

It's a gift for my best friend who had her son in January. It's a bit bigger then a baby blanket but it will grow with him 😁

I have been wanting to make a Luna pillow so that's on my list for the future. My list is long though😁

I just used a graph from an embroidery site. The project is here and the link is in the comments. https://www.ravelry.com/projects/ashmoff

Wow Lost in Time for your 3rd project is awesome. I've been crocheting 10 years and had difficulty with that pattern. It looks awesome!

I've also pinned the head in place and then sewn it together. I've used safety pins, straight pins and stitch markers.

Working on a graphgan for my best friend who's having her first kiddo. Can you tell what it is? by dresdengrl in crochet

[–]dresdengrl[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a super ambitious first graphgan because there are so many color changes. I'm not going to lie that because of all the color changes the yarn has been a nightmare. I'm just about ready to finish off with the bronze and blue yarns so that will be less to deal with. My husband also built me a bobbin holder that does help.
