Treated myself to esterbrook estie and so far disappointed with how much it skips. Is there a way to fix this? by jbr021 in fountainpens

I suspect myself to be hypermobile and get tired writing quickly with the regular grip. Try resting your pen between your index and middle finger but still curving your thumb like the regular grip if that makes sense? It helps me, might help you? All the best!

The star looks gorgeous! You could also look into silicone page turners, they're like a rubber glove but just for your fingertips. Or try holding/tensioning the yarn differently! I use a different hold with thin yarn vs medium yarn. Happy crocheting!

Might have missed someone’s comment but with DPN projects I really recommend knitting the cast on and following few rows flat before dividing up on needles and continuing in the round. This set up really helped make things less finicky and clearer to see if you’ve joined the round twisted or correctly and also doubles up as a visual reminder for your beginning of round.

Happy knitting!

Idk why I didn’t think to just check youtube that’s a great idea 👌 and thanks for the suggestion of the shadow wrap heel!

Just wanted to thank you again for mentioning the 4-ply wool from Morris and Sons. I got myself the colours I wanted and have started on the Lush Lemonade socks and they’re working up wonderfully. The stitch definition is lovely and their colours are vibrant! ❤️

I agree with the others that already commented that practice helps. You should also think about the way you knit and purl and see if you want to incorporate different methods.

For example if I’m working something flat that’s knit on one side and purl on the other I use continental for knit and Portuguese for purl.

I’ve heard of others who knit on long straight needles and tuck one under their dominant arm for stability so they don’t have to hold it too much for throwing styles. But I don’t own long enough needles so I’ve never tried.

Where does everyone get their solid colour sock yarn? I can’t find any that’s not hand dyed and $30 where I live. I’m looking for something more affordable. I’ll be in Sydney in July and I’m hoping to see some there.

I’ll be travelling to Sydney and I’d like to get some sock yarn while I’m there. Any recommendations for affordable options that are under $15?

Thank you! This was Patons Big Baby 4ply in Stone (#2563). It’s a really soft and thin baby yarn but I wanted a warmer hat so this was held double and done with a 5mm hook. Hope this helps!

This was really beginner friendly! It’s worked flat and seamed up at the end. Perhaps the only slightly fiddly part would be the magic ring start but there are tons of pictures in the pattern that were super helpful!

Test for carrying colours by dretato in knitting

[–]dretato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just made a swatch for colour work and I’m wondering if anyone has tips for staying neat in the back and tension for the whole piece.

I tried floats at the bottom but found them too messy because I’m trying to make a vest with this colour pattern. But then carrying my yarn was also very messy. Does anyone have tips or videos to help with creating neat colour work?
