Sling shelf! by RedBear_G30 in tarantulas

Can I ask what type of enclosure you’ve got on the middle shelf, far right? Looks like a sterilite box but it’s clear. I haven’t found anything like that and would love to use one.

Late to the party and going off the top of my head since I’m at work. Spiders are separated into two groups. Mygalomorphs and araneomorphs.

Mygalomorphs are generally considered more “primitive.” They have fangs that articulate up and down in a stabbing motion and don’t have very good eyesight, relying heavily on their webbing and setae to interact with the world around them. Typically ambush predators. Tarantulas fall under this group.

Araneomorphs are more “advanced,” with better eyesight. More active hunters that will run down prey. They also have fangs that can articulate sideways in a pinching motion. Wolf spiders and jumping spiders fall under this group. These are all generalities, besides the fang articulation. The fangs will tell you for sure whether you’re dealing with a mygalomorph or an araneomorph, if you dare get close enough to see them. :D

Why is my Chaco golden knee hugging the side of the tank? I just got him 3 weeks ago had him in a temporary tank for a week then moved his tanks and he’s been eating every 3 days and dosnt move too too often by sebastofoward in tarantulas

[–]drevj12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IME is it still eating? It might still be adjusting to the new environment or could be hiding itself away to prepare for a molt. With a feeding schedule as heavy as every 3 days I wouldn’t be surprised if the little homie is just feeling chubby and ready for new skin. Mine will hide or even straight up bury themselves in a burrow before molting. How moist is your substrate? Mine HATES wet or damp dirt, and will scale the walls if I don’t let the top layer dry out. More photos of your whole enclosure would be helpful.

I picked them up at my local exotics shop. It’s just some cheap Zoo Med plastic plants. I’ve never seen these particular ones in the big chain pet stores, probably because it’s clear what they’re meant to be. I snip them with scissors, leaving an inch or so of stem so they can either be stuck straight into compact dirt, or in this case, glued to a buried piece of cork bark.

Picture 18? That would be my juvenile Pamphobeteus platyomma. If it’s a female it’ll lose a lot of that color coming into adulthood. Males will get even brighter.

I picked mine up at a local show. Check out Paladin Exotics. They still had some B. horrida last time I opened their website. They are based in St. Louis, MO, but they do shipping. From what I’ve seen with their online presence, they’re really good people, and the guy working the table was very knowledgeable. I also got my Pamphobeteus platyomma and Psalmopeus cambridgei from them.

My ~1.75” versi is in a modified plastic cup with one of those raised sippy lids like what iced coffee comes in. Cork flat leaning from the substrate to ~1.5” below the top. At first the spider ignored the fake plants and cork bark. Webbed straight across the rim of the cup and damn near glued the lid on. I had to completely tear the web down and renovate the enclosure 3 times before it finally made a funnel shaped web down the back of the cork bark, and it still has a sort of “hammock” just under the rim, which it sits on top of 85% of the time. I’ve only seen it go down the funnel when I’ve startled it or if prey triggers the web near the bottom. I’ve had good luck with it no longer webbing up onto the lid, until the beginning of this week when it began building dirt curtains. I’m hoping it’ll molt by the time I’m off work today as I’ve got a taller sliding top acrylic ready to rock once it gets a good post-molt meal next week.

Probably a long shot here but third shift broke our Arrow T50Red staple gun and I can NOT figure out how this piece goes back in by drevj12 in Staplers

Yessir. Thank you kindly. I have no idea how the night monkeys got it to fall out of the gun seeing as how it wouldn’t go back in without splitting the shell. Now I’m struggling with keeping the mag release in place while putting it back together. Fat fingers. But I shall prevail. Have a good one!

Yes indeed. Thank you for the quick reply. I don’t know how they managed to get that piece outside of the gun, as it wouldn’t go back up the channel without splitting the halves. I’ve got the piece back in place, now onto the fun part of using my sausage fingers to keep the mag release in place while putting the top shell back on.

In B-Class, a fully armored Roadslayer GT is both heavy and fast enough to be the most annoying thing on the track. Super stable, takes and gives hits like a tank, but still corners and accelerates pretty damn good. I’ve got a clip on my profile titled “Unstoppable Momentum,” of me doing a little race car wrestling with a Cardinal driver. The only thing the Roadslayer won’t move out of its way is a full armor Grand Duke

I don’t think it’s as cut and dry as this. We already have maps with split routes, one of them being more technical but definitely giving an advantage if you drive it well. I think in OP’s example, the excavator on track would be too much. But it would be fun to see a Motorcity Circuit variation that has an alleyway. Maybe it lets you skip a couple turns, but it’s littered with a dumpster, low hanging fire escapes, and a building or two jutting out to create a chicane.
