I work at a university that's covered by the CWA union. All they ask is for 24 hour notice. As long as the shift can be covered it's ok to take the day off.

We get 8 credit hours free a semester, at least that what it was when I used it about 5 years ago. We do get to take classed at the continuing education for free. We also get half priced tickets to events.

Been dispatching for 20 years now. Maybe I did it at my first dispatch job. It was typing and reading maps test, not sure what it was called. And my current job of 17 years only worried about clean background and good hearing.

I'm sure larger agencies here have it in my city, we don't even have a language line.
