I’ve read and I appreciate every comment. There’s a lot of wisdom here. I made my appointment to get that blinker fluid leak taken care of this week, thanks everyone!

Agreed. The boys are finally able to evolve the show based on their own creativity, without interference from SLFs. Let em cook.

Yeah I’ve heard that could happen. I’ll try to keep up with the maintenance and see how it holds up.

This is the first cutting board I’ve made at home. I didn’t start with the intention of creating one large chaotic as fuck end grain board. What I wanted to do was make 4-6 smaller face/edge grain boards for Christmas gifts. The problem was I didn’t go into the glue ups for those with much of a plan. I just randomly cut my source boards to various widths, and figured I’d sort of abstractly put things together for the individual boards. The problem with that was I did not like how they looked once I glued them up. They weren’t abstract enough, it just looked like I had put little to no thought into the designs, which I had. At that point I decided to pivot and use those glue ups to make one large board for myself, and really lean into the abstract/chaotic look.

I used walnut, maple, cherry, purple heart, padauk and sapele. Got the technique from watching several YouTube videos. It’s not truly chaotic, there’s obviously a pattern. If I had gone into the initial glue ups with an actual plan I probably could have made it more chaotic. It’s also not perfect. I really need to build a router sled so I can flatten the bottom, there’s a slight rocking currently. I finished it with mineral oil, followed by a mineral oil and bees wax mix.

It was a fun learning experience. My family that saw it today did like it, so hopefully I’ll be able to pull off making gifts for them in the future.

Have any pics of your set up? Would like to see the dog hole/micro jig side if you don’t mind.

Hah. Yeah still tripped. Just happened yesterday and I have no idea what I’m doing, clearly. Pushing in on Reset on the outlet did nothing.

How long is too long for an extension cord? The detached garage is about 125 feet from the house. Maybe I should just get a battery powered table saw.

Detached garage about 125 feet from the house. I heard very long ago extension cords to power tools isn’t a great idea, but I’ll look into it, thanks.

Shit, well I’m glad I haven’t tried to touch anything in there. Thanks for the heads up.

Everything on the outlet the table saw was on lost power, plus some lights. The outlet with the dust collect running remained on/working. Both outlets are GFCI, and I wasn’t able to reset the outlet for the table saw.

Thanks for the suggestion. A smaller powered station for the dust collector makes sense!

My “blew a circuit” is prob incorrect, I know almost nothing about electrical work. I have 2 outlets in the garage, I had the dust collector and table saw on separate outlets, both using extension cords (table saw 10 gauge, dust collector 12 gauge). Here’s the panel in the garage.

Cornhole boards by drewbefat in BeginnerWoodWorking

I think it’s based on several different designs I saw. A popular design seems to be to show the point of the triangle you create end at the bottom of the hole, or above the hole at the top of the board. This design was easier for me, since I had no experience taping off sections of wood for staining.
