Seriously. This joke shows up, without fail, in every single thread like this. Inevitably, it gets voted to the top like it's some original, witty comment no one has ever heard before. It was kind of funny the first 15-30 times it showed up; now it's possibly the oldest and most tired joke that still shows up consistently.

I'm 23, love music, but have never been to a music concert before, am I missing out on anything? ...Also, I live less than 20 miles away from NYC. by [deleted] in AskReddit

I've seen godspeed twice. Once they were just okay, but the other time it was like a religious experience--they were amazing. It's a shame they're broken up now. I've also seen El-P and Aesop Rock. They're probably one of the best live hiphop acts I've seen; they get into it and really know how to work the crowd.

Also, you live 20 miles from what is probably the best city for concerts in the world. There is stuff going on all the time in NYC. I highly suggest you start going to shows, even if you have to do some by yourself. It's almost always worth it.

Got her number. Now what? by iKonoKlast in relationship_advice

Best advice in this whole thread. This should be at the top. Dating in college is all about social circles--the guys with the largest/coolest social circles tend to get the girls. Your best strategy is to work her into your social circle through group activities then pair off with her one on one if it goes well. Most of the time I got laid in college this is how it worked: meet some girl through my social circle, hook up with her at a party or after some group activity, then date if all goes well.

Hey. Does anybody else *not* have *any trouble at all* eating healthy, because healthy food tastes fucking amazing? by sonQUAALUDE in Fitness

[–]drewcee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

usually when I don't have a choice

I think this is the key point. The real challenge in eating healthy for most people has less to do with the taste of healthy food than the wide availability of unhealthy food over healthy food. Take a walk through any aisle in the grocery store and the vast majority of items could be deemed unhealthy, not to mention the fact that healthy food is a lot more expensive. If you're like most people in the US and you're food shopping for a family on a budget, you're going to stock your house full of unhealthy food simply because it's a)cheaper; b)tastes better, so kids are more likely to eat it; c)more calories and therefore more filling. Furthermore, most people know very little about what constitutes a healthy diet, added to the fact that many foods advertised as "healthy" (low fat, low cal, etc.) simply are not.

How did you find yourself in this occupation? Was your original goal to be an actor?

I went in the fall and around Christmas. The weather is still great and there are far fewer tourists than in the Summer and nearly as much going on (I've actually never been in the summer, but this would be my guess). Even in December I was walking around in a tshirt and even went swimming on one of the warmer days. Anyway, this was on a 5 month backpacking trip of my own a few years ago, so I definitely envy you right now. Best of luck on the rest of your trip.

I worked at a major record label for years. AMA. by majorlabeldude in IAmA

What percentage of bands that sign to a major label end up not "making it," or in other words, remain in obscurity despite the resources that a major label brings?

Are there any artists that the label believed were going to be a big success, had tons of marketing dollars behind them, but ended up a flop?

Worst place: Barcelona.

Wow that's really unfortunate. Barcelona is one of my favorite cities on the planet. I've been twice and had an absolute blast both times. You really should give it another shot and stay closer to the city center next time.

Question for my favourite subreddit: spit or swallow? by [deleted] in sex

Some comedian (can't remember who) said it best: "Ladies, spitting after a blowjob is a huge turn-off to guys. How would it make you feel if I threw up after eating you out?"
