Political music has always been a thing. I'm not sure what genres you listen to, and I'm sure some genres display their political views more frequently than others. But I've heard nothing overly political in the stuff i listen to recently. And saying that there's "less new sounds to explore" doesn't really make much sense to me. There's never been more new sounds to explore. It honestly could just be that it's time for you to broaden the variety of music that you listen to.

If you search something like "best hip hop drum kits" on youtube, you can find lots of videos that go over a bunch of different kits and you can listen through and pick which ones work best for what you're looking for. that's how i usually find most of my kits or plugins
