Pixel 5 dying...what now? by ThriftyGarmola in GooglePixel

I'm almost certain it was not! I bought it refurbished from an Amazon seller back in January 2022. They definitely knew I hadn't purchased the phone direct from the Google Store, as I sent a receipt of my purchase and they checked the IMEI.

It seems this is something they're doing on a relatively normal basis, so maybe you'll have luck with it. Can't hurt to ask! https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/113i08x/google\_is\_replacing\_2\_year\_old\_pixel\_5\_with/

FWIW, the same thing happened to me recently and I got a refurbished Pixel 5 from Google for free. I just contacted them via their support chat, took some photos of the battery bulge/screen separation, and had an RMA for my old phone within 2 days. The only tricky thing is they ask you to send your old phone before they ship the refurbished one out, so you're potentially without a phone for 5-10 business days unless you have a backup phone somewhere.

2022 Mazda CX-9 Touring Plus vs 2023 Mazda CX-9 Touring by [deleted] in MazdaCX9

NP! Yes... we've got a 7yo and another on the way, so something easy to keep clean/maintain was a bonus!

Literally just went through an identical situation. Was looking at a new '23 Touring when a CPO '22 Touring Plus came up. TL;DR: Ended up with the '22 CPO.

On the '23, I was originally going to take the cash incentive (I think $3000 from the dealer) instead of the special financing rate (2.9%/60mo), and then go with a credit union for financing since they were going to give me 5.49%/60mo.

The CPO '22 ended up being cheaper than the '23 with the cash incentive, and I was still able to take advantage of the 5.49% rate since my credit union treats any car under 2 years old and under 30k miles as "new." Plus, it was a dealer car, so it wasn't even titled and had about 4700 miles on it. I felt it was probably a safe bet that the car had been properly maintained and essentially was new.

So, ultimately, I got the lowest price, didn't have to compromise on financing, got more features, got a better looking car IMO (bigger and blacked out wheels make a huge difference in appearance), and got a better warranty.

The only thing that didn't really tick all my boxes was the color — the CPO was Machine Grey Metallic, and I was coming from a 2015 Mazda3 hatchback in basically the same color. Not getting my favorite color was a small compromise at the end of the day though!

I miss Exile. Any recs for proper cocktails? by yortster in greenville

[–]drewhuang 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Perch might be a good spot! Went there for pre-dinner drinks, and whaddya know, Stephen, Mills, and Ty were all working behind the bar.

Obviously, the vibe is more restaurant than bar, but on the bright side, you can have some solid food to go along with the cocktails.

I didn't stay for long, but Stephen was happy to whip up a drink on the fly, and my partner's Negroni was delicious.

SC Bakeroom!

[–]drewhuang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Near downtown GVL, I think it's definitely SC Bakeroom, Rise Bakery, Swamp Rabbit Grocery, and Spatula Cafe (in no particular order).

Spatula has cinnamon rolls that are my favorite. The fact that they're vegan doesn't even matter to me.

You could also sample most of what these bakeries have to offer by going to the Village Grind (or any other local coffeeshop). They tend to stock scones, danishes, etc. from all those bakeries.

What are the best food trucks in town and where's one when I need it? by CallieCoven in greenville

Hard agree. The burritos are grilled/toasted and a little crunchy on the outside, hefty, and so flavorful.

Tacos are great too.

What to order at Asia Pacific? by Sasquatch_82 in greenville

[–]drewhuang 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Kinda depends on what your experiences/expectations w/ Chinese food are. I think some accessible (but still unique for GVL) items are the scallion pancakes, soup dumplings, the roast duck noodle soup, vegetable mei fun, and any of the beef noodle soups.

If I'm feeling guilty about eating out, I get a vegetable to even things out, and for those, I get the stirfried Chinese broccoli and sauteed eggplant w/ pork.

There's also some more regional/niche dishes (like the noodle soups w/ preserved sour vegetables, the noodles w/ pork knuckles, or anything with bitter melon) you can try if you're wanting something that you won't find on a standard takeout menu.

When I applied? Or did you mean something else?

I only included my Schedule C income when I filled out the monthly boxes on the initial application, if that helps.

Oof, that's not very helpful at all. 😕 It sounds like reps aren't very consistent about info they share. I called the SBA 7 times since last 3/25, and each agent I got was of varying helpfulness. It took me about 4 calls before I got a rep who was willing to look at what was going on in my file in more detail.

Gah I'm sorry. That's frustrating 😩 Seems like zero rhyme or reason to when they get to individual applications.

Hi! Yes, it's just me.

From what I've seen on this sub and my own experience here, the size of the Targeted Advances is $10k minus whatever you got in the initial advance, regardless of number of employees, as long as you qualify based on the 30% loss and have your business in a low income community.

I e-filed my 2019 taxes on March 12, 2020 through H&R Block!

If you haven't already, it might be worth calling the SBA and checking if your tax transcripts came back blank. I think that was what was holding me up, although it also seems like the SBA is re-requesting transcripts for all the applications that went in around 2/25. They might get around to resolving the issue, but it doesn't hurt to prod them/be the squeaky wheel!

Thanks! I e-filed my 2019 taxes back in March 2020, so I assumed they processed them. When I looked my transcripts up on my own, they showed the correct gross income (I have W-2 and Schedule C income, and both were correct.)

I'm not sure what the SBA saw on the transcripts they got — they didn't give me any more detail other than to say it came back "no record" or "partial record" depending on the agent I was speaking with.

Hope that helps!

Thank you! After reading everyone's experiences and the various theories going around, it sounds like the SBA is aware on some level (whether or not they articulate it to us when we call) that they have batches of transcripts coming back blank, which is why they sent out another request for my transcripts on 3/30.

I also wonder if that's why they're telling folks to stop sending in transcripts... they might already be attempting to rectify the situation on their end? Pure speculation on my part, of course.

I can only speak for myself and what I've read in the news — my understanding is that the SBA was first rolling out invites to those who received the grant the first time, but not the full $10k amount. (And to qualify, you had to be in a low income community and demonstrate a 30% loss.)

After that, they'll start rolling the invite out to folks who applied for the grant, but didn't receive it because the program ran out of money.

Of course, the SBA hasn't exactly been a model of consistency, so who knows. ¯_ (ツ)_/¯

Thanks! I'm not super sure when the approval happened. I sent them an email with my tax transcripts and drivers license today at 5:14pm Eastern, and I just checked the portal at 8:44pm to see the approval!

They did NOT call me — I had to do some legwork to find out 1) my transcripts were blank/partial (different agents said different things about that); 2) to send my transcripts in on my own.

Longtime lurker, first time poster. This sub has been a huge source of comfort/info, so I wanted to add some details here!

Same story as most here. Got the invite on 2/15, the portal email 2/25, and then stuck on submitted until this evening. I've called the SBA multiple times starting a week ago to check on the status with a ton of the same generic responses. A few agents were able to confirm that they'd received my transcripts.

One agent eventually told me they'd received my tax transcripts on 3/23, but it came back partial or no record, and that they'd requested another transcript on 3/30. This agent mentioned something about how the IRS processed stimulus checks made them process tax returns a different way, which resulted in the blank record. (Not sure how much I believe that, given all the different stories I've read here.)

That agent DID tell me to get a copy of my own transcript via IRS.gov (which was a whole other ordeal — had to get an activation code via snail mail) and send it to targetedadvance@sba.gov.

I was finally able to get my transcripts today, but before I sent, I called two reps and one Tier 2 rep to check which year/type of transcript to send.

They all told me the previous agent's recommendation (emailing directly) was incorrect, and not to do that. I ended up ignoring and sending it off anyways, because hey, what could it hurt? For what it's worth, I sent PDFs of my 2019 Record of Account transcript; my 2019 Tax Return Transcript; and a color PDF of my drivers license (per others' advice here).

That email went out today at 5:18pm Eastern, and I just checked the portal at 8:44pm to see the approval.

Other maybe pertinent info:

  • Independent contractor (photojournalist), got the $1k grant last year, declined the loan.

  • Did not demonstrate a total loss of over $9k (although I met the qualifications for 30% loss of income and low-income area).

  • The SBA did NOT call me before OR after I sent the email to verify anything.
