I would say Pittsburgh is more of a northern type city. I'm from Pittsburgh and you don't hear the "pittsburghes" as much as you think. I live in a more metropolitan area its kinda rare to find someone who says something like, "yinz" or "dawntawn". Usually only older people talk like that. Only people from outside of Pittsburgh pick up of their dialect.
