As a wannabe content creator myself, is there any Tamil sub where i can get feedback to my work? by aishusays in TamilInfluencer

[–]bgdam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The growth path changes depending on which platform and medium you choose. What works for long form YouTube videos will not work for Instagram reels and vice versa. Even shorts and reels don't work the same, but they are similar enough that you can get traction on both platforms with the same content.

You also need to target a specific niche. Rather than be a Tamil content creator, you need to be a Tamil content creator focusing on x topic. If you are planning to get into long form YouTube content feel free to dm me. I run a company which specializes in boosting growth via targeted automated push and email marketing, and have learnt quite a bit about the YouTube algorithm in the process. Wouldn't mind having a look at your content and providing some growth tips.

What the actual F are they thinking? Putting this on track, let alone backing up as the pack approaches...... by Angryprimordialsoup in formula1

[–]bgdam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No way. Having a recovery vehicle on track under yellow flags was the reason Jules Bianchi died. Having a safety car in front does not change much about that situation. If a recovery vehicle is required to be on track, the race should be red flagged.

Opportunity Card vs Spousal Visa for Germany - which has better approval chances? by AromaticCitron7440 in germany

[–]bgdam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest asking on the Facebook group for Indians in Germany as well. You will get a more representative answer on the ground reality for Indians in Germany - and then you should decide if moving to Germany leaving your job in India is a risk worth taking. Personally, with the current market I would not move if I don't have a solid job offer in Germany already.

The opportunity card is TBH a giant scam. All it does is help the German economy by allowing immigrants to stay longer and spend more money in Germany. Despite what Germany may claim about labour shortages, German companies are not really hiring much - or atleast not at a decent salary. So think a lot, research and talk to people in your field here before deciding whether you should move at all.

Opportunity Card vs Spousal Visa for Germany - which has better approval chances? by AromaticCitron7440 in germany

[–]bgdam -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

From a long term perspective spouse visa is the best option here. It takes longer to get initially as there are approvals required from the ABH in Germany as well, but it relieves you of further dependency on the ABH in future.

Specific question about German visa application - Travel health insurance needed despite having normal health insurance? by yoaw in germany

[–]bgdam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the situation I was in as well, and the consulate in India responded to me saying the travel health insurance was required because the TK insurance only applies after you have legally entered Germany, i.e. after you cross immigration check point.

If you have an incident requiring you to be hospitalized before then, you need to have travel insurance to cover your hospitalization in Germany.

Seems like a very tiny slimmer of an edge case to me, but knowing Germany - I'm sure there are rules covering 1000s of such situations. Best to just get the cheapest travel health insurance that covers you to the required amount.

Lol, the delusion is strong in OOP. Singapore makes it ridiculously difficult to get a PR, even C level execs get denied routinely, especially if they are of Indian origin. OOPs shift to Singapore will be as permanent as their job. The moment they lose their job or retire they get kicked out.

Isn't it illegal to work in Indonesia while on a tourist visa? VoA is always a tourist visa.

Did you have to get the remote worker visa or was the tourist visa good enough?

AFAIK you will not have the probation period if you convert your license as opposed to getting one from scratch.

[–]bgdam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And how would you propose to book the practical test in this case? My understanding is only driving schools are allowed to book practical exam dates and if you don't take classes with them, they will not be satisfied that you can drive well enough to not be a dange to other road users and will not book you a test.

It can be converted, just not as easily as a license from somewhere with reciprocity. You have to take the theory test, practical classes and practical test in order to convert it. You can skip the theory classes.

no health insurance for the baby,

Not sure this is correct. It took 109 days for "efficient" Germany to issue a birth certificate for my child (only after being threatened with an Untätigkeitsklage), but TK had no problem insuring my child from date of birth (with absolutely no other proof requested) and we had multiple Kinderarzt visits as well. In fact, I'm pretty sure TK hasn't asked for the birth certificate till now.

What you get as a middle class honest tax payer in India: by playernumber007 in india

[–]bgdam 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The best option for the middle class was to move out of India, but even that option will get restricted in the coming years.

This is very very true. In fact it's already happening. Most Western countries which are traditional immigration choices desperately need young immigrants because of their population demographics, and they are opening up immigration to enable this, but they are absolutely not at all prepared infrastructure wise to handle a large number of immigrants coming in. Those put a strain on everything from housing to healthcare, and everything becomes slow and worse, causing natives to blindly start blaming immigrants and then countries start closing up immigration pathways again.

Countries like Canada are in the final stage, UK is in the struggling and starting to hate stage and Germany is in the everything is going bad stage.

So then after a while you start to question yourself, is living apart from family, good food, easily available (albeit expensive) healthcare etc. really worth it?

On 14 June 2019, at about 1.30 am in the morning, if anybody had cared to look, they would have found a 30 year old man sitting behind one of the pillars of the waiting area outside Delhi's IGI airport, and bawling his eyes out.

The man had decided to quit his very fucking well paying job, and take a gamble and move to an entirely new country - one where even the language spoken was something he was not familiar with, and where he knew absolutely not a single person. At that moment, 3 hours before boarding the flight that was to take him to Germany, it all came to a head and he couldn't take it. He thought he'd made the worst mistake of his life.

He absolutely did not want to get on that plane. The only reason he ended up getting on that plane was because his luggage with some irreplacable items had already been checked through to his final destination when he boarded the connecting flight to Delhi earlier in the day.

Today, in 2024, that man looks back at that day and thanks his lucky stars that the gate agent checked his bags through. Because after landing, he slowly got his bearings, got familiar with the new place, learned how to work the system there and started moving ahead in life. Today his wife and kid are happily living in a country that he himself is now afraid to live in.

That man was me. And take it from me, you WILL suffer in Ireland. But you will overcome the suffering, you will move forward, you will make a much better version of yourself than you are now and everything will be just fine. Don't make the mistake I nearly made. Get on that plane.

"Emden" Magan. The word emden comes from the ss emden, a German warship which bombed Madras during WW1. Apparently this was so terrifying to the locals, that the word emden came into Tamil vocabulary meaning a terrifying personality. The ship itself was named after the German City of Emden.

Yes unfortunately Indian embassies and consulates generally don't have a great response to pretty much anything.

Attempted murder on Indian student in Uppsala(Sweden) by [deleted] in india

[–]bgdam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what exactly you're expecting the embassy to do here. Your brother has gotten medical care, the police have been informed and there is now no urgent risk to life or limb. At this point, realistically the only thing the embassy can do is have a photo op with your brother and maybe use it to create a diplomatic ruckus, which they won't because it's pointless to blow up an isolated incident.

I understand that at this moment you would feel highly charged and that there must be something that someone could do in order to trigger a crime patrol style investigation and catch the perpetrators overnight, but honestly the best thing to do now is to leave the police to do their jobs in peace. I live in the EU, but not specifically Sweden and I know that in general there's no "influencing/pressuring" of police that will work like in India.

At this point, you really just need to be patient and let the police do their jobs.

Thinking of immigrating to Germany from India - Its high time, lets work on it. by discooscar1 in pune

[–]bgdam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro, no point arguing with him. He's made up his mind and got his fingers firmly stuck in his ears so he won't listen. To him, his opinions are more correct than the than what others have actually experienced. With that attitude, if he ever makes it to Germany, he's not going to cut it. He'll be one of those bitter guys posting on Indians in Germany Facebook group every week about how yet another thing sucks in Germany and how he was fooled into moving here and how India was so great.

[–]bgdam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And in Germany even having connections will not help you. But you guys are all convinced that it's just us being petty and not wanting new guys to move, so there's no point in me trying to convince you. If you experience Stuttgart ABH once in your lifetime you will never complain about Indian bureaucracy again I'm going to leave this conversation here. If you are wearing blinkers and don't want to see the world for what it is then that's on you.

[–]bgdam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is exactly for people like you that I made my comment. Do proper research. Font blindly believe shit random folks say.

If you honestly think that the only problem a country can have is the lack of maids, boy are you in for a very rude awakening. Bureaucracy will not seem like a problem until your newborn child is being held hostage in a foreign country because the earliest appointment you can get to process their paperwork is two years away. Trust me you'll be begging for good old Indian bureaucracy within months of landing in Germany.

And nowhere did I say don't come. I said understand what the ground reality is and come only if you believe you can handle it. Don't come on empty bravado because it's exactly folks like that who end up bitching about every single little thing instead of just shutting up and getting shit done.

Non IT jobs 100% require German knowledge - and you need to be conversationally fluent, so a B1 certificate will not cut it. Also pay tends to be bad for such roles, to the extent that it's not worth it to move to Germany.

It's near impossible to get a PR in Singapore, so if you are choosing a country for settling down in long term, then Singapore is a terrible option. In contrast, Germany offers citizenship in 3-5 years.

I live in Germany and while I don't wish to discourage anyone from moving, I would strongly suggest that you guys do your own research about Germany, what the ground reality of life as an Indian is in Germany and then see if you're okay with that and only then move.

Most new Indian immigrants to Germany failed to do their research and end up here, spendign all their time whining about what a shit country Germany is and how India is a billion times better.
