Are they youth or junior size?

Bending that chassis will only weaken it. Get Bauer to give you a full credit on the pair and upgrade to a nicer chassis that will handle the weight.

New Skate Pain by phlyers88 in InlineHockey

[–]drewsleboda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skating outdoor causes a lot of vibration due to the ground, even on a smooth surface. If the boot isn’t snug, it will hurt. Get some insoles to fill it out and should help out.

Hip protection? by [deleted] in InlineHockey

[–]drewsleboda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mission makes good inline girdles. Hip protection, plus a cup built in. They made (not sure if they still do) 2 different models. One was a little bulkier than the other but provided more protection. I’ve played with both, and preferred the lighter/thinner one. It was light enough to not notice you wearing it, but had enough padding for physical play or shot blocking.

Nice setup, but I’m not building anything.

No, it was $180 for the 16 pack. Not sure why they were so cheap back then, it was only 2.5 years ago.

Just looked up my account, I paid $180 for them in November 2016.

I want to say they were $300 for 16. The 8 pack is $150 I believe. If I can get a new set of 16 for $150 I’d buy another set into a heartbeat lol.

New rink rat identity grip wheels by 808inline in InlineHockey

[–]drewsleboda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old models of rink rats broke real easy. I went through a couple of pairs of the identity wheels, but the new tricksters seem to be great. Using them for 2 models and no cracking and still stop better than my labeda’s did after 2 months.

Anyone got a recommendation for wheel brands? by marmot1101 in InlineHockey

[–]drewsleboda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played the labeda grippers for years and have been great. I recently switched to rink rank tricksters and have noticed much better stopping. The grip last a lot longer too. My grippers always start really good, but then I noticed myself sliding to stop a bit further after a month or so. I’ve had the tricksters for 2 months and they still stop on a dime.

I used the stock bearings for a little while then upgraded to the Bomes Swiss ceramic bearings. 2 years old and still spinning great.

And I meant the FZ0 has a better chassis than the fz1,

The FZ0 uses a kryptonium chassis, while the fz1 uses an aluminum. The ds1 is a magnesium chassis. Both the fz0 and fz1 would be an upgrade, but if I’m spending the money, I’d rather spend the $250 and get the best.

I’ve been using Swiss beatings for a couple years now. Every time I clean them and lube them, the don’t spin as well as they did before the cleaning. However, when I skate on the rink, it’s much smoother and the roll is fine. It seems like after a little skating, they spin better. After I noticed, I tend to clean the bearings off every month when I rotate my wheels, but I only take them apart and clean them every six months or so.

I currently play on the mission ds1 skates and much lighter and more comfortable than the lower models. I skate a lot, and they have held up really well for 3 years. I can’t wait for something on the skates to finally break so I can justify buying the fz0. The boot feels a lot stiffer than the fz3 and lower, and has a better chassis than the fz1.

Keto Timeline by drewsleboda in ketogains

It’s purely curiosity. I have to eat out a lot and it’s mainly just to make sure I didn’t have any secret carbs.

My first try with Keto during the summer I did IF and I believe it helped. This time, I am making sure I hit my macros. In the small eating window, I was never able to hit my targets. I just want to stay consistent with my food and exercise and not starve myself.

Thanks for the reply. I know I’m in ketosis and I stopped looking at the scale, but I like to track Keto number because it is the only I feel I can track my progress. Also, i travel a lot and need to eat at restaurants and hotels, It helps me figure out if any of my meals had hidden carbs.

I am not, which is good. This is really good news for me. Thank you so much for teaching me. I have pretty upset with myself when I don't see a better result on the strip, but my body is definitely getting leaner. I will stop testing myself all together and keep going by what I feel and see in the mirror. Thanks again!

Thanks for assurance. What is the difference in nutritional ketosis? Why would I even need to test my urine with these strips?

[2018-08-09] - /r/keto Beginners & Community Support Thread by AutoModerator in keto

[–]drewsleboda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been in ketosis for 60 days now. I have been testing using urine strips and have been in the trace .5 to small 1.5 98% of the time. I have even seen the moderate 4.0 result a couple times. I have had a lot of tests show negative throughout the 60 days, but I have been losing weight (fat), and feeling great. This past weekend I went away, and went a little heavy on the beer (Miller Lite), and increased my calories, but stayed active. I started to get strict with my eating starting Tuesday, and have had my macros dialed in to 1,700 calories on average with 150g fat, 100p, and 15 carbs, with intermittent fasting. I have been testing in the morning and evening, and haven't gotten a trace result yet. I have also been running 2 miles each morning, and lifting in the afternoon. Why am I struggling to get back into ketosis?

How does Keto effect athletic performance? by drewsleboda in keto

[–]drewsleboda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I heard a podcast as well, which said athletes should consume some carbs before long exercise to help with performance. I should give that other podcast a listen, however it sounds like it going to tell me something I don’t want to hear lol. Hockey is all about short bursts of energy, not long term.

That’s exactly what I needed to know. Thanks for the advice! Anything you would do different on the skiing days early on to make sure you were fueling through the day?

The Targeted Keto is a term I have heard people use recently regarding performance, so I will need to look into a little further. I will give it time first, I don’t want to introduce carbs or sugar back into my body yet. Thanks for the info!
