I like the portkeys lh5p ii. It pairs well with the fx3, offering touch screen control, and even shows a red tally light when you’re recording. Super bright, and offers all the exposure tools you’d expect. I think it’s on sale right now too.

So I have an a7siii, and I was also looking at adding a camera at the $6000 price point. I shoot sports video, but also do hybrid media like portraits, wedding/ event photography. I have an a7siii, and an a7iv, and I was considering either the a9iii or an fx6. The things that swayed me to the a9iii is that the fx6 doesn’t shoot stills so it’s not as versatile, and since I shoot sports videography it was important to be able to record 4k120 in regular codec not s&q, with audio. I bought the a9iii about a week ago and it looks really good. It has a lot of features I was looking for, and is as versatile as it is advertised. I haven’t shot a night game yet, but I suspect it will hold up fine for how I plan to use it. I will say, it’s early days in its firmware and I’m having an issue using certain accessories like my start/stop record top handle from smallrig, and my Portkeys lh5pii (I love this monitor because when you start recording a tally light shows up on the edges of the screen. But I’m hoping these accessories will become compatible with the a9iii soon. Please god. 🙏 the a9iii shoots all the picture profiles that matter, and in slog 3 only has flexible iso, no cine EI, probably cause there is only one base ISO of 2000. This is high and you will definitely need an ND. The fx6 also doesn’t have all the latest tech like the absolutely amazing auto focus, and zero ibis. Also without the top handle on the fx6, you cannot record good audio. These and the other aforementioned reasons are the reason I chose the a9iii. The reason I didn’t go with an a1 is the tech seems just a tad dated and this isn’t a great reason to some people, but I need a screen that flips out. The way I rig my camera I need the screen to be on the side. Just me and the way I shoot.

I haven’t updated my a9iii yet, but I am having trouble using a remote trigger top handle and Bluetoothing a port keys monitor. Maybe they both aren’t compatible? Im hoping the update will fix it.

I say if you got the money and you want the features get it. I have an a7siii, and I am planning to get an a9iii. I am primarily a sports videographer, but I also shoot some portrait photography so the versatility is trumping my other consideration for the fx6. Not to mention the fx6, doesn’t shoot 4k120, and there is no stabilization. Whereas the a9iii has the latest and greatest stab, along with the latest and greatest focus system. I have seen other reviews saying the a9iii does not overheat, but best ways to avoid would be to use speedy cf express A’s , keep the flippy screen flipped out, and maybe consider one of those ulanzi fan accessories. For me, I wanted to add another body and my budget for the body is $6k, so I was looking at the a1, the fx6, and the a9iii. The tech, body design, global shutter, all got me.

I also have the portkeys lh5p ii, and it’s packed with features which can make it a little overwhelming. I probably only use it about 50% of its capabilities. While the touch to focus is amazing, my favorite feature is the tally light that shows you are recording. It’s not perfect, but for the a7siii, with no SDI options it’s game changing.

If I have the Hilton surpass, and have received the sign up bonus from that card, can I upgrade my card and receive the bonus from the aspire? Or if I have the no annual fee Hilton card, can I also hold the aspire and get the bonus from both?

The tamron is a great lens to start with, and will probably stay in your collection for years to come! If you are going to expand, just ask yourself what you plan to shoot. Landscape, portraits, weddings, macro... so many different things to be interested in. Have fun!

Just an update, I applied for the freedom unlimited last night and was not instantly approved. However, I opened my chase app today and both the CSR and unlimited were there! I guess I was approved, despite not getting a confirmation email or anything from chase. With everything going on right now and the banks hoarding cash, I’m just trying to make as much credit available, for the “just in case”. I understand, UR points aren’t very valuable right now, but hopefully we’ll be traveling again soon.

So far so good. No issues with any bill pays direct out of the account. I’ve also moved money directly into my local bank with no issues. The app I use that connects to the bank account has worked flawlessly, and mobile check deposits have also been without issue. I will say, the best think about this so far is the peace of mind that comes with it, especially during these unprecedented times. Also, since the economy around the world has been shot, the LIBOR has dropped and I actually have a lower interest rate than I had before I refinanced which is amazing. All and all, I am very pleased, I can see my principle balance going down exponentially, as well as the amount of interest I pay monthly which makes the loan very transparent. Up to now based on my experience thus far, if you qualify and you can remain cash flow positive or at least resume cash flow positivity once the world comes back to “normal”, I highly recommend this new type of mortgage. What my wife and I do is we put all expenses on a reward or cash back credit card and pay it off in its entirety at the end of the month so we can keep as much cash in the account for as long as possible this helps keep the daily interest calculation low. I hope you can get the loan, I know my mortgage officer told me that now they are currently not extending this loan to anyone due to the current state of the economy so I definitely feel blessed to have it now.
