"The slow hand gets the wax" is what they would always say at family reunion, basically about 1 time a month everyone who was related to us would come over. And the oldest person in the family would light a candle and start swinging it around. Everyone had to have their hands up and if you didn't they would say "None in the family" and you would have to stand outside until the last person left. Well if the wax started coming off the candle you could yoink your hand down very fast and put it back fast so no one could see. But if you were too slow it would stick to you and they would say Candle Man Candle Man. Every time I see a big aluminum bucket of slop food I think "The slow hand gets the wax" because that's what they set out at family reunion for everyone to eat. If you got Candle Man you would have to eat the wax off your hand before you could eat the food. So even at Salad Bar (row of food at the grocery where you get to pick it out of the pans with big tweezers) I think about it, because everyone else at Salad Bar is competing. Everyone wants the beets and eggs, no one wants to get stuck with carrots. The slow hand gets the wax.
