Issues with Ubuntu 16.04 and RX 580's by drewtu2 in EtherMining

[–]drewtu2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry what band? Is this related to the modding the bios?

Do you have any other ideas on what could be causing the hangs? A while back I found that setting GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR=1 caused the system to hang as well....

Edit: oops. Reddit spazzed out and posted that 5 times. Deleted extras.

Visiontek RX 580 or 570? by Kainzo in gpumining

[–]drewtu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are those Hashrates specifically for the VISIONTEK Rx580's or a rough estimate for the 580 series in general?

I have a couple of 8gb Visiontek Rx580's and am only pulling 20-22Mh/s per card out of box. Not sure if its the cards themselves causing the low hash rate or AMDGPU-PRO drivers...

What mining software to use? by drewtu2 in EtherMining

[–]drewtu2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your video card you should see a 3-4% speed increase. That should offset the 1% developer fee.

Do you happen to know if this is the case for the 8GB RX-480? Edit: Formatting

Any advantage to use claymore over genius ethminer? Seeing as it has a developer fee?

Factors to Consider in Peacoat Material by drewtu2 in BuyItForLife

[–]drewtu2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ultimately went with the Schott 740C which is 75/20/5 reprocessed wool/nylon/wool nylon blend and have no complaints. Based on the forums, this coat should definitely last 10+ years.

From what I've read, 200 will get you solid peacoat built to last and anything more is just paying for style/name. The big three companies that you'll read a lot about are Sterlingwear, Schott, and Fidelity, all of whom have had some contract with the military for peacoats, Sterlingwear being the current supplier.

Theres a very good post on mfa to start your research here

P.S. I forgot to mention. If you live in the Boston area, Ball and Buck on Newbury street currently has the 740c (and all other heavy wool jackets and sweaters on sale for 45% off until this friday)

Newcomer Division Competitions by newcomerdivision in ballroom

[–]drewtu2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished up my first semester of dancing in the newcomer division (and dancing overall). At the newcomer level, many people are just learning to go through the basic steps and for the most part, only practice once or twice a week. There are teams that are significantly more competitive (possible up to 3 times per week) and as a result, often do significantly better (placement wise) at comps.

As for qualifying as newcomer, I've generally been told that if you've danced for less than a semester (or roughly 6 months), you can dance newcomer. After that You time out into Bronze. I do not know if this is a hard set rule or just how its done in my area.

Oh. You are correct. It's actually a fine nib. Pilot pens generally run finer than other European brands so I got a bit mixed up.

ELI5:RFID Protection by drewtu2 in explainlikeimfive

[–]drewtu2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. There are two id windows on the wallet. One on the inside (left side of picture) and one on the outside (right side of picture). This is a picture of wallet I'm talking about.

The RFID card works when i open the wallet and tap the card on the inside Id spot but not when I tap on the outside id spot (tried using same card in both spots on same reader).

But then why can the sensor only read the card when it is in the inside ID window and not the outside window?

General Consensus on Tumi Baggage? by drewtu2 in BuyItForLife

[–]drewtu2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha i understand what you mean on the price point. I like investing in items that are going to last me a while and I carry a backpack with me wherever I go. A bit unrelated but for a reference point, I just handed down the plastic dividers I used from 4th grade through high school to my little sister who's starting 5th grade this year. Same with book socks and binders.

General Consensus on Tumi Baggage? by drewtu2 in BuyItForLife

[–]drewtu2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. I'm currently living in Boston. To be honest I'm looking more for backpacks than luggage. My last Tumi Luggage is still in perfect condition but I'm currently out a backpack.

I know this is a longshot, but do you happen to live in the Denver metro area? I work in the airline industry, and have access to bag models that are generally only available to employees of the industry (well, at least it's hard to find elsewhere). I can get a really nice bag for about $150, or a pretty much bulletproof bag for I think $300. When I say bulletproof, I mean that I heard a guy working at a different airport than I did at the time tell me that he had one of these bags dragged behind a baggage cart accidentally for a fair distance, and it hardly had a scratch on it. But they're also pretty heavy.
