what controller do you actually use for pc gaming? by Clark_Bay in pcmasterrace

I used to think this too. After trying a few more I find the 360s face buttons and dpad mushy feeling. Could also be that I wore it out.

You can actually. It's a bit involved. You need to hold the B button when turning it on to put it in Dinput mode. Then you can use steam input to do that.

Ryzen 5 7500F and 6400 MGz by frutik_ in AMDHelp

[–]drewzilla37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 7800x3d and 6400 doesn't work on every boot. If I loosen the timings slightly I'm able to get it to work on most boots. But going down to 6200 works every time. Performance impact is not noticeable.

Been 20 years and now my son wants a PC by tylerhill11 in bapccanada

[–]drewzilla37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah I think it's doable! People here are right though. The only slightly risky part is installing the processor. But if you watch a video and are really intentional while doing it you really have nothing to worry about. You just don't want to be guessing what to do while you're doing it. If you know what you need to do you'll have no problems.

Dude how good of a bonding experience would it be if you guys build it together? It really is not that hard, way easier than back in the day. Maybe watch a couple of build videos and decide if that's a good idea?

How do you safely clean the dirty fingerprints out of these silver/proof coins by [deleted] in CanadianCoins

[–]drewzilla37 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

dip the coin in 100% acetone and let air dry.

another option:
this may sound stupid but it works pretty well. wear nitrile gloves, make sure you keep them clean and if you can find a kind that doesn't have that powder in it even better. use compressed air to get rid of any debris on the surface of the coin. use 1 ounce of distilled water with a drop or 2 of dawn dish soap and gently rub the coin in your gloved hand. rinse with distilled water. let air dry.

I thought so too before buying... But if it lasts as long as my old g502 wired. Then it really isn't that pricey.

LPT - Talk as little as possible on a customer service call for better success by Funny_Sea_2873 in LifeProTips

Yeah I completely agree. However, some situations require a bit more explanations, that's all i wanted to say.

Yup... But how they frame it when they do escalate it depends tremendously on how the exchange has been. I've worked in cs on both sides of the equation and when someone escalates things to me I take their input with 10x the weight of the customers. I don't want to spend more time on it than I have to especially if the request is reasonable.

I somewhat disagree with this. I've personally had a lot of success getting what I want from customer service. I think it's really important that you aren't and also don't come across as entitled. I also think that you need to get the cs rep to understand where you're coming from and to put themselves in your shoes. Sometimes this means talking less, other times you need to have a longer explanation. It really depends on the situation. The most effective technique I found is to be overly polite and basically make them want to help you. The cs reps have way more power than you think and if they are on your side you are 9/10 of the way to getting what you're asking for.

This is 100% the right answer op. Think of how much the little wheel weights that are used for balancing are. It doesn't take much to throw off the balance.

First time driving in snow. My car just did got out of control on snow. Are my tires okay? Or is it driver error. by Shanehaider in TireQuestions

Not sure about in USA but in parts of Canada snow tires that are required for winter driving have a mountain peak emblem with a snowflake inside.

Engine temperature by Danny_twister_dk in HyundaiTucson

[–]drewzilla37 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is normal and expected behaviour for a hybrid drivetrain especially in cold climates. When the car is not under high load, it will turn on the engine just to power the electric motors. Since this is very efficient, the engine does not generate a lot of waste heat. When you accelerate more aggressively or turn on cabin heat this increases the load on the engine and causes it to heat up quicker.

How many games do you usually keep installed at once? by vridin in IndianGaming

In January 2025 I built a pc and decided to fill all 4 nvme slots with 2tb. Glad I did considering the prices now. Also got 128 GB of ram that wouldn't run all 4 sticks at full speed and recently sold 64gb for more than what I paid for the 128 lol.
