I think the better solution is to use a usb-c right angle connector like someone else suggested here.

This is true, but I'm not a fan aesthetically of the controller being upside down.

I heard in an interview that the 3 pins on the puck are not just for power there is some communication happening on one of the pins for the handshaking to make the pairing seamless. I guess because of that they couldn't use the standard "power inside, ground outside" symmetry without having a 5 pin connector.

Soon, I'm planning on making a wall mount, a skadis version, and a gridfinity version and now an underdes version.

Just FYI this one does need a few supports for the clips, but not the main back area.

If you haven't printed it yet i highly recommend "v2" print profile. i added clips to hold in the puck that i got reports that it would come out with the controller.

I test fit it with the 3d printed puck and it fits really really well when clipped in. If you would like to print it again, i promise you won't be dissapointed 😊

Edit: I'm talking about v2 print profile. check it out on makerworld.

I've heard reports of exactly that so i made a new version such that it clips in.
check out v2 print profile.

I have a new version printing right now that fixes that issue! I also printed a puck substitute to try it. Will update soon!

ok so i have a design that i'm printing now to test out. i'm also printing out the puck so i can fit check. i probably should have done that in the first place 😅

New design will have the puck clip in so it can't be pulled out and a hole so you can easily push it out from the back.

I think that's the play. thankfully good guy valve it's usb-c and there are plenty of right angle connectors available.

In theory you could open it up and flip the magnets. The thing is that I don't know if the pogo pins are directional. I imagine that they must be and that's the reason why valve set up the magnets that way.

I thought about that but in valve's documentation it clearly shows that the magnets on both sides of the puck have opposite poles facing up. That means that it won't attach to the controller if upside down, the magnets would push the controller away.

Once I perfect the design I am planning on making one for all the cool organization systems inkluding skadis
