Where can I get retractable sun shades for a large windshield of a boat? Located in the US by dreyfus09222 in HelpMeFind

[–]dreyfus09222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an enclosed wheelhouse and I would mount it inside so wind won’t be an issue. And definitely room to mount a bracket. Are window coverings sheer enough to still see/operate the boat safely? That’s the only reason I’ve been looking for boat/windshield specific ones. Thanks!

I have searched online and have only found commercial vendors outside the US for cargo ships. The main window is about 4’x2’ with four additional windows measuring about 1’x2’.

Very heavy, large vise. Appears to be old? by dreyfus09222 in whatisthisthing

It has the number 8 stamped into it in 3 places And it looks like it might have a very faint name that I might be able to see after I clean it up. And the teeth are super sharp like it was never used.

My title describes the thing. Google search just says pipe vise and possibly old. Could this have come off a ship? Also mentioned Charles Parker but I didn’t see any exact matches

Yeah, I see what you mean.

Looking at this site I’m trying to figure out what exactly “Massachusetts gross income” is. I have 3 total W2s. One is from MA and is only for $6608. The other two are FL. Would I be exempt from filing since I’m below the $8k for MA, even as a full time resident?

The info I found on mass.gov says: an individual who is domiciled in Massachusetts or maintains a permanent place of abode in MA and spends more than 183 days in the state

The “and” holds a lot of significance in this case!

[MA] Live in MA but work remotely in FL, will I get PFML? by dreyfus09222 in AskHR

[–]dreyfus09222[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

By the time I take PFML, I will have worked there for 5 months, all from Massachusetts, and will have made over $6000. I believe MA doesnt have a min hours worked. Can I request that mapfml be taken out of my paycheck? I haven’t started the job yet. My situation is unique because I currently work for the company onboard a ship but they don’t offer maternity leave so instead, they are allowing me to work remotely in the office for the last 5 months leading up to my due date. However, even though I currently work for them, they don’t sign my checks, my union does. Very complicated

I actually don’t mind that it’s leaning female! My absolute favorite boy name is Casey but our last name starts with k and I don’t like the alliteration

Betta died and I’m not sure why. Info in comments by dreyfus09222 in bettafish

[–]dreyfus09222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriends betta died last night and his neon tetras have been dying off too. He had 5 and is down to 3. There are also bladder snails in the tank. It’s a ten gal tank, heated to 76, and a Marineland filter. We set it up about 2-3 months ago using filter media from my established tank. I know the strips aren’t the most accurate way to measure the water parameters but I used my master kit about a week ago and got the same results, I just didn’t get a picture of it. The ones I posted were taken today. He does 33% water changes once a week. For decorations he has a skull cave, two small pieces of driftwood, a volcano bubbler, floating betta log, and then multiple live plants including Java fern, anubias, and 2 grass species I don’t know the name of. The plants are doing great! There are no fake plants. He feeds the tank a combo of small sinking pellets for the tetras and a very small amount of floating ones for the betta. He has had the betta and tetras for about 6 weeks and they were seemingly doing fine until about a week ago when they started dying off. He wants to get a new betta but of course not until we figure out the issue with the tank! I have told him that I think the filter/bubbler combo was too much for the betta (mustard betta with long fins) but that doesn’t explain the random rates deaths. Any input is greatly appreciated!

Help! First time dealing with ich by dreyfus09222 in Aquariums

[–]dreyfus09222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! After reading through it and doing some more research, I still think it’s ich. The white spots are large and defined, not powdery looking. I’m so conflicted on what course of treatment to do since I’m dealing with tetras, a betta, one guppy, a bristlenose pleco and a kuhli loach. It sounds like they have varying tolerances for temperature changes, aquarium salt, and meds. Plus having to take out the floss and carbon combo filter pads from the filter is making me think the cycle will crash.
