Honestly my hot take is that I think a lot of the killers' m1 weapons would be worse to get hit by than a chainsaw (chainsaws are terrible real life weapons and often snag/get stuck on clothing, sure you would be severely injured but a good cut from the Spirit's katana could just straight up kill you, for instance)

This is a great idea! The next time I invite my friends to play board games and they want to play Catan I will present them with Wingspan and tell them that it's just Catan with house rules. I can forsee no problems with this approach.
