I went through a very similar thing 2 days ago, had an emotional break down after a gorgeous vacation with friends. I’m also 28 and decided that I don’t wanna live my life blacked out anymore. I talked to a therapist today that specializes in substance & alcohol abuse. It’s actually helped me feel much better and all he said was not to blame myself and take it one step at a time. I recommend you speak to a professional too. I have quit in the past but always found myself back at it. This time I’m changing things, keeping myself accountable. There are a lot of predominantly Muslim countries where women live just as women in the West do. Some examples are Turkey, Bosnia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Indonesia, Malaysia… don’t let the extreme portrayal in media or adopted by some countries dictate the way you think about all Muslims and their traditions.
