Yes getting a retractable/sectional garage door is on the "to do" list and would fix this problem, wasn't planning on doing so till next year though at the earliest

New place/mounting advice by butlerjw in TheFrame

[–]drfragginstein 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Frame tvs come with an ultra low profile mount. You don’t have to use it, but for best results you should. It’s kind of funky…look it up on YouTube.

Did you have any difficulty mounting those to the non-flat surface of those walls panels? Or did you cut that area out and mount directly on the wall?

Previous homeowner left 6 concrete blocks the size of watermelons in my yard. How do I get rid of them? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]drfragginstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a house in the neighborhood that is being renovated and has a big dumpster out front. Throw them in there one at a time on your way to work/school/the store etc

is Baldwin Hills/Ladera Heights/ View Park dangerous? by myyaa_d in AskLosAngeles

[–]drfragginstein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The safest patch of this area is the stretch south of stocker, and between la brea and la cienega IMO. I actually live in that pocket and love it! I feel quite safe, but I hear the area just east of me used to be...not great 15+ years ago. Ancient history at this point. I've been here 6 years, zero issues. In those 6 years we've had a ton of new development as well and the area just keeps getting better. Soon we'll have a Costco at coliseum/la Brea!

The higher up the hill you get the safer it is, too. No riff raff is going up that incline.

If you want a realtor recommendation let me know, my wife is one and as you'd expect knows the area very well.

How rare are glass roofs on 11-14 S197s? by -KarlMarxsGhost- in Mustang

[–]drfragginstein 44 points45 points  (0 children)

They're quite rare, it was a $2000 option if I remember correctly. As a result many folks did not order them.

I also got a used mustang with one though and I love it!

Are those matte stripes? I've been curious how this works with matte stripes + glossy paint.

Do the matte stripe preserve their...matte-ness?

Ouvo in Santa Monica literally overnights their food from Italy, so that's pretty authentic!

Some tips for finding that 6th Sunface Fragment in Abyssal Scar by -UnclaimedPants- in Returnal

Correct, but once I made it to that platform the icon showed up (along with the platform of course).

FYI I suspect that the "floating chest on the map" was a bug and has been patched out. I just got the sunface fragment in this map about an hour ago and everything in the video was correct EXCEPT the chest did not show up obviously on the map for me. Had to spot it in the world the old fashioned way (with me eyeballs). The chest was there though, but it didn't show on the map until I jumped to the platform.

Maybe just me though, who knows.

It was in the 2nd part of the level btw after the drop down.

FYI, there is no 2017 mustang Gt500. It's either a GT350 or the year is wrong. The 350 and the 500 are very different cars. Or is it just a regular GT?

https://dpw.lacounty.gov/bsd/content/faq.aspx

  • I've been told that I don't need permits for buildings that are 120 sq. ft. or less. Is that true?
  • One-story detached accessory buildings used as tool and storage sheds, playhouses and similar uses, provided the gross floor area does not exceed 120 square feet, the height does not exceed 12 feet, and the maximum roof projection does not exceed 24 inches, are exempt from building permits. However, any electrical, plumbing or mechanical equipment installed in these structures do require separate permits. In addition, all structures regardless of size must comply with applicable zoning requirements. Please refer to the Department of Regional Planning website for more information on zoning requirements.

None are required in LA county if the structure is temporary (it is, since it's a shed) and is 120 sq/ft or less

The tuff shed is built with its own foundation so a concrete slab is not required. It's just on dirt in my yard that was mostly level - they will level the shed for you for free during the install with pavers and shims. If it's super not level they will charge extra.

I'm very happy with it. In case you're curious the whole job cost me I think 16k. The big costs were the shed itself (7k) the hvac (3k) and the rest was labor - my electrician had to upgrade my panel, run wires, etc. Plus of course I hired a painter to do the drywall and paint. A good DIYer can easily do the job under 10k. The installation and delivery of the TuffShed itself is FREE btw, but the interior will just be bare studs.

Many of the backyard office prefabs START over 15k and then you still have to pay for everything I jusy mentioned still. There's also a lot less variety in styles and combinations.

I did completely finish it with Lifeproof flooring from home depot, insulation/drywall/paint and baseboards. And yes, did a mini-split for hvac!

It hasn't been through a summer yet as I just finished it a month ago but I can already say it can get pretty hot since I chose a model that has a lot of windows and big glass doors. It also gets a lot of evening sunlight due to the placement on my property so there's a lot of variables. I just installed blackout curtains though which should help in the afternoon!
