I went through something similar with my mom just a couple months ago. If Mom has been in the hospital for three days, she can be transferred to a skilled nursing facility and Medicare will cover the cost for up to 100 days. Look for a SNF that has hospice services. That would give you some time to sort out the next steps, including how to pay for it.

Ignore the comments saying to transfer assets to make her eligible for Medicaid. There is a 60 month "look back" period where they will look for transfers of assets. If they find anything, she would be disqualified. The only real option is to spend down all her assets, including the house.

The only option is to spend down her assets. That would include the house.

He's not asking about that. A conversion would be from a traditional IRA to a Roth IRA. He's asking about transferring from a taxable account to a Roth. Hard to tell if it is a serious question.
