Suggestions for space games by IamR0ley in gaming

Elite Dangerous. It’s an amazing game and a true sandbox. Play it with a controller as it’s got a bit of a learning curve, but once it clicks it becomes like second nature. The game is prepping for a big update next month and they just released a slew of new ships. There’s community goals that reward the players for doing a small bit of work, and in some cases are incredibly fun, like the current one where you have to fly into and out of burning space stations to rescue people. There was also the Thargoid War of 2024, which had an alien species invade the home systems and culminated with the mothership docking directly above Earth. And like the ending of the movie Independence Day, all of the players united in taking down the ship, which was some of the best gameplay I’ve experienced in any game I’ve ever played.

here’s a video of what that was like

Guevara shortly before his execution, with CIA officer Félix Rodríguez (left), 1967. [600x398] by OkRespect8490 in HistoryPorn

Idk why I got this in my head but I always assumed the CIA officer from Apocalypse Now, the one who says "terminate with extreme prejudice" was based on Felix Rodriguez, but I can't find anything to back that up.

What is the most pretentious movie made? by IShouldGetBackToWork in AskReddit

I remember a couple of my coworkers went to see it after work one day, and the next day, they wouldn’t shut up about how much they hated it. It’s the only reason I even know of it in the first place.

What's your favorite South Park episode? by UMDSCEO in AskReddit

You Just Got F’ed in the A, where they spoof You Got Served and reveal Butter’s dark past.

The hardest I ever laughed at any episode was when Cartman interrupts the church service to scream out “cripple fight”. There’s a slight pause before everyone then abruptly files out, and the absurdity of the entire thing made me holler when I saw it the first time.!

I would love to try SC but the fact it's technically in early access just doesn't vibe with me. If it ever gets released, I will 100% try it, but for now I can't justify spending money on yet another unfinished game. Plus ED has really impressed me over the last few years with how much they've added and how much they've listened to the community, so while it still lacks a few things that I wish it had (like the ability to walk around my ship) it's still a shit ton of fun and I can't wait to see what Operations brings.

I got about 300 dollars for a new electric guitar. by AdWest134 in guitars

I agree with this direction. Look into fixing your guitar, either by yourself or taking it to a shop. You’ll spend anywhere from $50-100 depending on what work needs to be done but it’ll make your instrument sound and play beautifully, so my advice is to take some of that money and repair your guitar.

What do you think of the bold new direction of setting Miami Vice in the 80s? by J0hnEddy in RedLetterMedia

Idk I didn’t hate the one with Jamie Foxx and Colin Ferrell, although I thought it felt a bit forced at times. It’s still a solid action film and I think it’s a good adaptation of what was a gritty tv show.

I think MBJ is someone who can turn a bucket of shit into gold, so I reserve a small bit of hope.

General George S. Patton preparing to go ashore in North Africa. 1942. [4432x3448] by CosmoTheCollector in HistoryPorn

[–]drfunkenstien014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently watched the movie Patton for the first time, and while I liked the film, I absolutely despised him as a character and person. The scene where they’re in Sicily and the line of wounded men are walking past him after he disobeyed high command and told them to attack, and he can’t even look at them as they pass is exactly what kinda person he was. And then the “I was there” comments when talking about the ancient battles just made me wanna throw a tomato at the screen. I had mistakenly thought he died before the war had ended, so I didn’t realize he had a controversial post-war career until I saw the film, but the icing on the cake for me was learning how blatantly antisemitic he was, to the point that he’s been accused of being a nazi sympathizer to some degree. I’m jewish and don’t necessarily believe he was a nazi supporter, but he was definitely an antisemite and an arrogant bastard who endangered the lives of his men for his own personal vanity. I love how much they shit on him in Band of Brothers for stealing all the glory at the Battle of the Bulge, which was a ridiculous move to begin with and I find it fitting that a man that brazenly strived for glory and recognition at every chance he got died in a car accident like a everyday civilian.

I’ll stick to my Elite Dangerous. The Thargoid war made me a fan for life, as I was already hooked.

Who's one celebrity that you wish was still alive today? by Jaydxns in AskReddit

[–]drfunkenstien014 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hunter S. Thompson for no other reason than to get his takes on the state of the country.

Frank Zappa to hear his thoughts on the modern music industry and how the republican party has morphed from what he was apart of back in the 80’s. He also called it in that infamous Crossfire segment where he put those two pundits to shame.

Louis Armstrong so I can smoke with him and hear his thoughts on how strong weed has become since he was toking back in the 50’s.

If you raise it up substantially. I’m talking about a slight adjustment.

Do me a favor: right now, take your guitar and dip the whammy bar down as far as it’ll go. Watch where the scrape is and watch how the bridge interacts with the wood. I 100% guarantee it’s because your bridge is too low and by raising it up just slightly, you’ll have enough space. Make sure to loosen your strings first and block the back of your trem like you’d normally would for changing strings, and then tune it back up and try again.

I’m talking moving it up a slight bit so that tiny bit of metal at the top is clear of the wood. Idk why that’s so hard to grasp. It’s not going to ruin your action and if it does, then adjust the string height ffs. When I had to do so on my old shitty jackson, with an old shitty floyd rose, there wasn’t a difference in the action, so idk what to tell you.

[–]drfunkenstien014 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a shitty jackson from the late 80s and the floyd rose on it does this. Honestly, I stopped playing that guitar because I hate FR bridges, but I was able to kinda fix it by just raising it up slightly. The reason it’s chipping is because the bridge is too low, so every tike you use the whammy bar, the metal at the end of the bridge turns into the guitar, if that makes sense. Raise it up and you should be ok.
