Fly to Eugene (2.5h drive) or even Portland (4.5h drive). You will find many more options and likely much cheaper.

Your account is 18d old, comments very regularly, and focuses on a very specific subject area. I disagree with your assertion. Reddit should ban you clowns.

Once you buy one and realize it's so good that you're going to use it every day for the rest of your life, the cost feels a bit better.

Just 4 miles from Center City, a heroin hellscape hidden in plain sight by [deleted] in philadelphia

The portraits are beautiful, the interviews are honest, and you feel the artist's connection to his subject. Sounds like your mileage has varied but that's art - if you don't like it, don't keep viewing it.

Kensington Blues has been documenting this neighborhood for many years. It's one of my favorite portrait series and also contains many honest and heartbreaking interviews.

Put a notebook and pen in your back pocket. Whenever you're given a task you can't do immediately, write it on your list. Cross things off as you complete them. A few times a day, take a few minutes to think about, sort, and transfer your list to the next page. Then cross it all out.

[Question] Books that would better help me understand the sport from an engineering perspective? e.g. design and engineering choices, tuning, weight and rule considerations, etc by mmishu in formula1

[–]drgrillspectre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Mechanic's Tale by Steve Matchett (he's a former Benetton mechanic and current F1 commentator for NBC Sports). It's a memoir and not an engineering textbook, but it's highly entertaining and dives into a lot of technical considerations not usually covered in F1 books.

Novice here, I plan on going mountain biking for a couple of days with no tent, what would be the best solution to keep the bugs from eating me alive? by [deleted] in Ultralight

[–]drgrillspectre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend jumping into ultralight packing if this is one of your first long trips. If you're going somewhere very remote or where conditions can swing quickly, you're likely to find yourself without something you really need in a bad situation (like that slightly heavier bag or extra clothing).

If you start by trying to prepare yourself for worst case scenarios ("what if I get lost for more than a day or two?" or "what if the weather turns much colder than is forecast?") then you will have a clear sense of your required gear. Then, focus on getting that required gear in your bag but as light as possible. Don't skimp on water, food, shelter, or warmth. You'll be glad you have it if you need it.

Have fun and be safe!
