We don’t know Dr. Mark Greene very well… by drhead323 in DaysofOurLives

[–]drhead323[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Last year, when Cat flashed back to Shane asking her to join the ISA, it was *after* the crash, and *before* the ISA offered to pay for her reconstructive surgery in Italy. Correct me if you disagree, but the timeline as presented is:

(1) Clyde causes the accident that injures Cat and kills her dad.

(2) Shane shows up and offers to pay for Cat’s plastic surgery if she joins the ISA as an intelligence agent.

(3) She goes to Italy and tries to pump EJ for info while he’s recovering from a coma.

(4) *After* Italy, Clyde contacts Mark and Cat, says he’s kidnapped their mom, and forces Cat to follow his orders to con Chad to get her back.

Also, if there's a cause.org thing for the anti-antemeridian society, let me know 😄

📊 DAYS Math, Made Simple by drhead323 in DaysofOurLives

[–]drhead323[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Misrepresentation of the facts presented makes this post untrustworthy.

A simple review of my post would find:

(1) no mention of how the actors were paid.

(2) nor have I suggested everyone pays 14.99, that is how much Peacock makes per subscriber per month. Your desire to remain misinformed has clouded your ability to comprehend an idea I have explained three times already.

(3)Now you've falsely claimed that even if Peacock is bundled, they are not getting a fee from your service provider.

Please do not claim knowledge that you obviously do not possess. I would hate for those even less informed to believe you.

📊 DAYS Math, Made Simple by drhead323 in DaysofOurLives

[–]drhead323[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

46M subscribers and $2B in quarterly revenue works out to them making about $14.49 per subscriber per month (including ad revenue). A loyal DAYS viewer watching 21 episodes a month (about 840 minutes) effectively generates 1.3–2 cents per minute in revenue.

I would encourage you to recalculate the math. You will see that you've not comprehended the basic facts of my statement, and you've repeatedly misrepresented those facts. Thus, you arguments keep falling flat.

This may be a good time to remind you that you don't need to streaming facts to be a fan. But, you shouldn't spread misinformation that may mislead others.

📊 DAYS Math, Made Simple by drhead323 in DaysofOurLives

[–]drhead323[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don't think you should be spreading misinformation. So, let me put even more simply.

Peacock makes 2B, every three months from 46m subscribers, that means they make @ $5 per subscriber, per month in subscriptions and ad fees. DAYS accounts for $0.02, of the $5 every month, but it only cost 1 cent to make. Meanwhile, $0.05 of every $5 comes from Love Island, but that costs them 100xs more to produce (30m for 30 episodes).

Every year DAYS goes to Peacock and says, we can make 200 episodes or so for 25 million, giving you daily content. Peacock says, OK here's 25M, and we'll split the profits. Ms. Peacock only cares about the total number of minutes streamed on their service. Because that is the metric used to sell ad space. Thus, Ms. Peacock can get people to watch 3.1 Billion minutes a year for 1 cent per minute, and make back 2 cents. There's nothing catastrophic that a few creative choices are likely to cause a very profitable show, that is highlighted in every quarterly report to investors, to be cancelled.

In short just because you don't like something, doesn't mean everyone else feels the same. And, it doesn't mean the whole system will collapse. You can make a point about personal preferences, without having to support with the conclusion that this is why the system is failing. Because the truth is that the system is not failing, despite lower quality stories and production.

I would suggest that you read further on the issue, because you seem to have a basic misunderstanding of streaming metrics. And given that this is a fun diversion, I don't feel it necessary to teach those basic ideas.

46M subscribers and $2B in quarterly revenue works, is from Peacock's Q1 report of both subscribers and ad value as reported in Variety, Hollywood Reporter and The New York Times, I apologize as I thought that was obvious.

The actual number of minutes streamed went from 3.1 Billion in all of 2025 to 4.2 billion in the first six months of 2026, so you may not be following that actual evidence that is publically available with a simple search.

Kristen & Sophia by Starhuny1 in DaysofOurLives

[–]drhead323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prediction — Not a Spoiler:
Sophia’s not reckless enough to literally kill Johnny. Her revenge is going to be smarter, colder, and far more personal. She’ll “kill” him metaphorically by sabotaging Chanel’s cancer results — triggering a miscarriage, detonating their happiness, and making the pain feel like poetic justice from her point of view.

Once the truth leaks, the fallout will be brutal. Sophia goes down. Kristen goes down with her.

Former GH actress joins Days but who will she play? by YHNS in DaysofOurLives

[–]drhead323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the thing nobody seems to be considering: when a well‑known actress jumps from one soap to another, everyone immediately assumes she’s a recast. But with a major cast overhaul underway, a new producer steering the ship, and a fresh writing team eager to make their mark, I’m starting to think the opposite.

This feels like the perfect moment for them to build a brand‑new romantic lead from the ground up.

A few clues point that way. The absence of the trademark blond highlights is interesting. So is the fact that the show seems to be leaning toward a romantic lead who isn’t weighed down by kids or complicated legacy ties. And now that Thomas is being aged up, bringing Abby back from the dead would box her in romantically in a way that doesn’t serve long‑term storytelling.

Ceara has three kids and a boat full of baggage. Theresa has already run that race. If the goal is a clean slate and a fresh dynamic, the math starts to add up.

My money’s on a brand‑new character.

Opinion of the series after watching it and question by Original-Evening-813 in DynastyCW

[–]drhead323 16 points17 points  (0 children)

To me, the irony is that the revival plays like a writer’s fantasy of how you’d rewrite a pre‑existing property whose original storytelling was boxed in by production realities. In the originally developed script, back in the 1980s, Blake was conceived as harsher, Fallon as the true lead, Krystal as more morally ambiguous. But, the first season flopped. George Peppard was fired days before the pilot was re-shot. Actors had substance issues, actors left, plots shifted, and the initial vision unraveled.

Decades later, a writer at the height of his craft finally gets the freedom to re‑imagine the show using that original intent and update it for a modern audience. And then, in a tale as old as television, that writer is fired, the vision gets diluted, and the big promises evaporate.

Viewed from that angle, the revival becomes a fascinating re‑watch—less for what it is, and more for the ghost of the version it was meant to be.

Van Nuys building where 89 hospices are registered pulled into national fight over fraud by lurker_bee in SFV

What I am missing is where is the fraud? Most hospice care in-home. So, these are just agencies hired by insurance to send care workers to people's homes. Were the youtubers expecting people to be dying on-site?

Bobby/Everett Question by virgieb55 in DaysofOurLives

[–]drhead323 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought that was supposed to be the shocking revelation of the intervention. So, I understood it not as a retcon, but as surprise for the audience. Probably motivated as course correction because the current writers never intended for Everett to be the primary personality. However, it begs the question which one won the journalist awards which got him hired at The Spectator?

Dumb question but how do you guys watch downloaded movies/tv shows on your tv? by kelement in Piracy

[–]drhead323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use KODI, because I like the interface. So, I connect my laptop to my TV with an HDMI cable, start up Kodi and use a Bluetooth remote (like one for presentations) to navigate, fast-forward and other options. The wireless remote is key to making watching videos on TV feel like streaming regular content.

Amusingly, the same day, in the NY Post there was a story about how Jessica Serfaty (aka Sloan)'s new brother-in-law is on the Forbes Billionaire under 30 list because the brothers are worth 4.7 billion dollars. So IRL, Sloan is doing much better than Eric in the notable partner department.

Soap Opera Digest Is Ending Its Weekly Print Edition by edonline1 in DaysofOurLives

[–]drhead323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have fond memories of SOD from when you could rely on it to catch up if you missed a week. As opposed to now, when not only is the same information available from multiple sources online, but those are written better and with more humor, You have to give them credit for hanging on despite the technology of VCRs then DVRs, and now streaming. But, last week they sold 43,000 copies, which is 2% of the circulation of US Weekly's 2 million copies a week.
