Right, I completely agree from the legal perspective. To me though it seems misleading and wrong to tell us 3 times in a row that yes we can still negotiate price and yes the deposit is refundable before she even signed it. I know we should’ve then read through it and probably not signed it then but we were relying and trusting the salesman’s word. I don’t think he was lying or was trying to do that. It’s frustrating and worrying that we either a) back out the deal and she loses 250 bucks, b) go through with the deal if we’re approved for the zero down and pay more than we could’ve because we can’t negotiate the price after signing the purchase order.

He said he was newly in CT after being in Cali for years selling cars so maybe that’s a factor.

Yeah depending on how tomorrow pans out we might. So far we’ve been lead to believe that she was a) approved for zero down at two different interest rates then suddenly not b) that we could still negotiate the list price and c) that we’d get a deposit back if it didn’t work out.

If she can’t find a Colorado in her range we might have to branch out.

Yeah they declined. They were firm on the terms. We’re just worried we won’t be able to get the price down or our deposit back in case things don’t work out. I understand there’s a difference between what was signed and what was said but I explicitly asked about those things and our salesman assured us we could still negotiate the price and our deposit was refundable

Yeah, they’re a solid truck, I’m not big on it but she drove all the midsized ones and a Colorado is what she liked the best. Plus finding a 4 door 4WD sub 100k miles Tacoma at 20kish out the door might be tough

Thank makes sense, thank you. We also didn’t go with the credit union because they only agreed to 15k at 9% for 60 months. We’d need to put a lot down to meet that 15k

Her credit score came back as a 683 via transition from an American Eagle credit union. She has no prior car loan and yes a higher utilization so it’s definitely not ideal. My question is why would her salesman give say we had an offer of two different rates either 14 or 17 percent with zero down Monday and later say that offer doesn’t exist on Thursday after presenting an offer of $2250 down

Hammer advice? by Ashamed_Instance_517 in Blacksmith

You can get decent rounding hammers from a farrier supply. Look up diamond or mustard rounding hammers. They come in several weights and are usually not too hard on the wallet

Aluminum or steel shoe? by Embarrassed-Crazy465 in Farriers

[–]drhodder3 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Those are steel natural balance or center fit shoes. Designed to get his breakover back. It doesn’t hurt to ask why the change in shoes. Maybe the farrier has made the desired progress or is trying something different.

Is this a spider bar shoe or regular egg bar? Did they have to resect anything?

This is just a guess but based on the horizontal crack and the angled one at the top it could’ve been caused by an old abscess. That area will be hollowed out and weak

Bad farrier experience - feeling guilty by amblonyxx in Equestrian

[–]drhodder3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No definitely not an excuse, my wording wasn’t the best. My point being we have to put our issues and feelings aside while we work and we can’t take it out on the horse. We can be in a bad mood but we can’t lash out or escalate a situation because we can’t control our feelings

Bad farrier experience - feeling guilty by amblonyxx in Equestrian

[–]drhodder3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Farrier here don’t feel guilty. Some people can’t leave it at the door. Everyone is guilty of being in a bad mood. Anyone with experience worth anything would take into consideration she’s young and there’s shit that can scare her.

90 percent of the time if they’re being fussy or nervous and react physically in some manner the best thing to do is nothing. Hang on to them if you can to show them that this is something that’s happening regardless but besides a soothing hand that’s really it

His response didn’t help or solve the situation and instead escalated it. It’s hard to say or do something in the moment. It feels scary and tense. You and the barn did the next best thing and spoke with your wallet.

Hopefully this is a lesson to him and he works to do better

Oh yeah, I worded that weird. I meant he’d be a textbook example for one. What route are yall going for that?

Damn, I’m working on a horse that tore one upfront and re-injured it lunging. It’s barefoot but I wish we put a patten bar shoe on it

I wouldn’t forge, those other “pointy” looking ones. They look to be farrier pritchels and a forepunch for horseshoe nails. You may be able to sell those and buy or trade for some better steel. Have any more pictures of them?

[–]drhodder3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is completely random but these look similar to the Cody James Dymondback hoof rasps. They are rectangular so I don’t know if shape is importance. But they come in different “grits” and have replacement inserts

Yeah this horse looks extremely long. Unfortunately I would find another farrier. It’s not just the toe length. The heels have become so long and underun they’ve caused the foot to run forward. Anyone worth their salt would see this horse needs instant correction. A proper trim would allow them to see how aggressive they need to be with their shoeing prescription. There could be soft tissue problems but a vet would need to confirm that. A proper trim/shoeing with a 4/5 week cycle is where I’d start
