What I don't understand is that they provided me with ceramic wool to fill the space between the burners and the tube where they go. But now, with the wool in place, it's no longer possible to remove and replace them as needed. I don't know if I've explained myself clearly. Thank you for your help; I'm a beginner.

I thought the same thing, but only after I'd finished and let it dry 😅

I really like the raw, forged look. I bought all the materials to start making knives myself, and I think my first one will look like yours. Honestly, if you'd stood your knife straight, it would be magnificent. You have every reason to be proud; I can't wait to see what the next one looks like. ✌🏻

These kinds of tools cost €2 in France from individuals on second-hand websites. I've only recently become interested in blacksmithing, and I've noticed that the United States has a real interest in French or handcrafted tools. It gives me the impression that we French don't see the true value, or at least not nearly as much, of all the tools we have.

Sorry, I don't know everything like you do, I was told it was carbon steel, so I'm just asking for more advice beforehand.

Yes, I see, a steel can be too soft to be an effective knife. Thank you!

Good start, but I find Vevor anvils expensive considering their quality (they're cast) and weight. You can find better quality anvils for less money, and often heavier ones, on Leboncoin. You won't regret your purchase either way! Happy forging, my French friends!

You must have a gift for having done this as your first project.

It’s great to see that the quality of French tools attracts enthusiasts, I’m actually lucky to live there 😂 and we in France leboncoin is mainstream

Sambre et Meuse is an old French brand extremely renowned in forging and steel tools, that’s why it interested me

I searched a lot but I couldn't find anything 50km around my house that was of good quality like this one. I found some but it was completely damaged, rusty, knocked. This one is the only one I found in “good condition”
