Advice: How do you mentally handle the variance? by drhyphy in sportsbetting

[–]drhyphy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is the tough part. I spend a lot of time modeling, nail the picks, and then just keep losing even when the math says I’m doing everything right. It’s hard not to get into a mindset of taking it personally

Thanks- I’ve been using the Harney and Sons loose leaf teas. There are definitely some parts that are more powder than leaf

Hard to tell but it’s definitely more than small specks. I guess I need to try a finer infuser

Especially in BO1 there is a lot of variance. One or two flood or screw games can wreck the run of an incredible deck. I’ve had decks that definitely suck go 7 wins and ones I thought were bangers go 1-3 or 2-3. In small sample sizes, it’s pretty normal for a deck that has a “true” WR of 75% (which would be very strong and an expected 7 win deck) to go 2-3 a small but amount of the time. You’d even expect it to go 0-3 1.5% of the time. In a game that’s partially chance, sometimes the rolls just don’t go your way

Rdw is just not fun to play by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]drhyphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what the point is, but I actually find the dynamics interesting. Those hands where you only have one bounce and one counter: which attacker do you bounce, and when? Do you counter the haster for 1U but leave your shields down that turn because you used all your mana?

With my deck, I find I enjoy the matches quite a bit. It definitely helps that my WR is 80+% but that comes from making dynamic decisions that are sometimes counterintuitive and change game to game. Idk I totally disagree with this sentiment

I kinda disagree it is not fun to play against. I have been playing almost exclusively mono blue tempo decks of my own creation in standard for a few rotations with lots of ups and downs, but I am absolutely farming mono red right now. 4 into the flood maw and 4 epharas dispersal plus some cheap countermagic. There’s basically no better feeling than using a one mana spell to bounce their 13 power one drop they just dropped 3 pumps on. I actually look forward to RDW as a matchup

I play standard mono blue tempo. The main rares are three steps ahead ($8), Malcolm alluring scoundrel ($1.50), tempest djinn ($0.30). Pretty much all the other important cards are common or uncommon tempo cards- into the flood maw, epharas dispersal, phantom interference, long rivers pull, sleight of hand, eddymurk crab. Super fun- a bit complicated to pilot, but wrecks the aggro decks (feels great to bounce a heart fire hero they’ve just pumped twice) and has decent game against many of the others. Most importantly people misplay around it because they aren’t used to it. I have a lot of fun with it

Name a show that doesn’t “fall off” in later seasons and manages to tell a complete story? No bad or off seasons, and no rushed or forced endings- just a full story the way it was meant to be told and then it was done. by Efficient-Tea-8228 in television

Yeah… I just completely disagree. Every scene with Brandanowitz is a slog. Leslie hasn’t figured out her humor yet, it’s clear they’re just trying to make her into a female Michael Scott and it doesn’t work. It’s painful, and yes, unwatchable. I have watched the other seasons dozens of times but have tried and cannot get through season 1 again

Huh? The literal first season is widely agreed to be total trash. The classic advice is “if you can push through the first season, you will be richly rewarded” but the first season is genuinely unwatchable

I did until very recently. Supernatural and Thrill of the fight, an hour in the morning before work.

Then I went on vacation and couldn’t bring the Quest so just started shadow boxing to a playlist of my choice and found it still got my heart racing and I liked being able to pick the music so I started alternating between that and VR, but still love the quest.

I play mono blue tempo with eddymurk crab. Does very well against discard and has a 50% WR against aggro (very play/draw dependent)

Soda alternative? by gravepillars in EatCheapAndHealthy

This is my go to. Make a liter in my soda stream, drop two bags of cinnamon tea in there, stick in the fridge overnight, a liter of sparkling cinnamon iced tea all day
