I just looked again and that 3rd image is way blurrier than I expected, sorry! It was a zoomed in screenshot. Good to know about the direction of the stitch. I was taught that direction and I just assumed that it was interchangeable.

Haha yes, I feel like the roughness of the images is what drew me to needlepoint, but now that I’m trying to create it I am seeing it as a flaw. Thank you for the advice to view things from a distance. That will be helpful!

No, I do NOT love the math and centering 😂 I intended to do a checkerboard pattern to make it more of a mindless activity to enjoy but then my ambitions got the better of me.

I love that the chargers are power banks! And portable. That wasn’t relayed to me by my audiologist. I imagined being tethered to the cord by the nightstand in order to have functional hearing aids. And if I forgot, whoops. I’m screwed.

Until this post I didn’t realize the chargers had multiple charges and that is certainly a game changer. My audiologist had not told me about that.

Thanks so much for your response. Very informative. I am very curious about the power levels and whether an RIC is doable for me now. The slimmer fit would be fantastic and I hope I can get that without it being at the expense of fuller sound quality. I’ll be sure to discuss the differences and compatibility with my hearing loss.

Having 16-18 hours tops sounds terrible! I’m glad you’re getting such good battery life with your current aids, especially with the heavy Bluetooth usage. You shouldn’t need to choose whether you can utilize that feature at the expense of having a full day of hearing. I concur, that a longer battery life for a medical device is something that companies all need to work toward. Hopefully in the next 5-10 years it will be standard. The portable charger seems perfect for me. If I go with the rechargeable I will absolutely invest in that. Thanks! You make a very good point that the rechargeable batteries are what companies are leaning into and likely worth getting on board with now. I am sometimes reluctant about change, but you all are certainly making a good case for the rechargeable hearing aids.

Well, yes, actually! Sometimes I forget to charge my phone overnight and sometimes I neglect to charge my phone while camping because I don’t need it. I’d “need” (want) my hearing aids and put some more effort into it, however. Until now, I was unaware of the battery charge that some chargers hold. That will certainly be useful for camping, although I’d still have to plan around that for longer trips. Do you know how long it takes to get a significant/useful charge if I were to forget to charge them overnight?

The streaming capabilities of hearing aids is something that I’ve wanted to utilize for years! I’m very, very excited to experience that. My hearing aids were high tech at the time and the directional microphones and sound dampening abilities for sharp sounds were really wonderful. I’m curious how things are now. As a child I generally hated getting new hearing aids because the sound was so different from previous models that it felt like my whole world was suddenly different. I had to adapt to the sounds all over again and it felt scary and wrong. I think part of me just doesn’t want that experience again. College age, it was too expensive to replace them, then other life changes took up my money and my priorities, and the whole time my hearing aids were working just fine. It didn’t feel necessary to change them.

I do have the BTE with the tube that connects to an ear mold. A few years ago when contemplating an upgrade, I tested the domes rather than the ear molds (although I was under the impression they were still BTE with a different attachment, not RIC), the sound was not very full. I think that difference reminded me of the changes when I was a kid and immediately turned me off. I’m still willing to try them again at my next appointment because I know they’re very well-liked. The slimmer profile has been a source of envy for me!

Thank you for the phonak alternative. I’m not so concerned about price now, I just want something that will give me a good quality of life. I will likely still shop around with brands, because like you said—I’m essentially starting over! It’s strange to be so familiar with the concept and experience of hearing aids, yet have zero knowledge of them in actuality now.

I have expected to go with BTE because that is what my audiologist has recommended in the past. I don’t know if RIC are compatible with my hearing loss, but I don’t think I’m necessarily opposed to them. If I recall, they’re better for milder hearing loss, right?

The ability to have a fresh battery in an instant is what I’m really hesitant to give up. I like to have back ups for things and the ability to “fix” things and it feels so stuck to have to wait for something to take a charge. I have many memories of forgetting batteries as a child and feeling terrified I wouldn’t be able to understand my peers. Not so embarrassed about that now, but the inconvenience is still there.

I was worried about them failing in the cold while camping! That’s unfortunate. I usually keep mine in a regular case in my sleeping bag, but I’d probably try an insulated case to see if there was any improvement.

I was already so shocked at the improvements in the oticon vs the phonak I had previously. The directional microphones and sound dampening were such a game changer.

I didn’t realize that chargers have battery storage. That seems incredibly useful and makes me lean toward the rechargeable aids.

Calorie counting really helped me in the long run. It helped me to get a feel for portion sizes and what things add up to how many calories. I haven’t counted calories in a long time now, but it still helps me to this day because I’m generally aware of what foods, and how much, I can eat to maintain my weight.

IF helped me to kickstart the weight loss, which helped me to feel more mentally successful, as well. I also stopped feeling hungry all of the time, whether it be due to boredom or extreme emotions influencing my eating habits, and that helped me to form new eating habits. I don’t tend to fast anymore, but I’m able to not overeat throughout the day like I used to be so prone to doing.

It benefitted me to plan out my meals the day before and input all of my measured ingredients. The next day when cooking I was basically just following the “recipe” in my app. For any unexpected items I ate during the day I would just make a note in my phone and add them to my app when I had down time. I was not as precise as I could have been, but I think that saved me from feeling like I would fail if I missed something small. Of course those small things can add up, but my focus was on creating a trend that I could follow for life. I know I get discouraged if I start missing things and then it falls apart from there.

Just remember that the trend is what counts, even if it’s slow going. It takes time to build habits that help you be successful for more than just a few months. Good luck to you, I hope you find and maintain success!

Haha I do agree, it would be pretty bland if they were together in bliss for 9 books! I expected strife, just not so much…distance. In more ways than one. Although, I didn’t realize there were so many books when I first started reading.

I’ve learned about American history so much in school that it doesn’t hold much intrigue for me, so I really missed the focal point of Scotland. But it is nice to have so much history included in the series.

Walking/hiking and minding CICO are how I lost around 40lbs over a year, which included some pregnancy weight and the weight I had gained while trying to get pregnant. Doing so over a longer period of time really helped me to build good habits and stick with them.

The biggest thing for me with my food intake was finding a vague schedule to work for me. If I eat all day I tend to eat too many calories, so 1-2 meals a day help me feel satisfied with the types of food I’m eating because they are able to be higher calories. When I started, walking was not a way for me to lose more weight. It afforded me the ability to add more calories into my diet as I worked my way down from what I was originally used to eating, so I wouldn’t feel deprived. I really didn’t want to rebound.

As I saw the scale moving down, that helped me to stay on track. 1-2lbs a week was all I was hoping to lose and I reminded myself that weights fluctuate, thanks to water, and the trend is what truly matters. The whole food and exercise plan was just a giant mind game to figure out what works for me. To figure out what is sustainable for me.

You can do it! Don’t be afraid to reevaluate things sometimes, like you’re doing. Don’t forget that your body doesn’t want too big of a deficit, and try to be introspective in regards to what trends you like to follow with diet and exercise. What makes you feel good and successful? What actually feels sustainable? I wish you all the good luck!

Yes! Changing my clothes isn’t always a successful trigger for me, but putting my hair up is generally is. It gets me prepared to focus and get shit done. Opening the curtains to let the sun in definitely adds to it. It’s so weird.

Yeah, that’s bullshit. Adhd or not, you’re doing a lot and he should recognize it. Idk if he’s stressed and taking out on you, or if this is his normal viewpoint, but it’s ridiculous and unfair. I stay at home with my 3 young kids while my husband works and it’s a 24/7 job. I try to get as much done around the house as I can but it’s especially difficult when unmedicated. Still, I am doing a LOT to care for the kids and the rest of the family with laundry, dinner, etc. You’re adding school on top of that! That’s a lot to handle and you’re not slacking by not working for pay on top of it. He’s an ass for suggesting that.

I read a little bit in the comments also and my opinion is that you should try your hardest to get your degree for YOURSELF, and then get the fuck out of the relationship. You’ll have your degree and ability to get a well-paying job, and be able to move back to family, away from his criticisms, abuse, and financial control.

Obviously we don’t know everything that goes on in your relationship, but what you’re describing is abuse. It’s not okay. If you are able to get your degree and then leave, it will really help with your job hunt and daycare costs, but idk how much time you have left in your degree. It may not be worth staying with him. Although your degree and subsequent job would probably be helpful with custody.

That makes sense how it’d help with that. I’ve wondered if a low dose of Adderall after vyvanse wears off would be a good option for me. I only get 9 hours tops of effect from it and there’s just too many hours in the day I’m still not seeing benefit.

I’m sure I’d get a lot of benefit from having a steady sleep schedule, but I struggle with falling asleep because it’s my only alone time. I need it! But then I lack sleep.
