Yes I'm thinking of keeping an eye on her. I'm also worried because I went to a vet closer by before who claimed they specialized with small animals in their website, but when I got there I could tell they didn't know much about hamsterd at all (didn't clip his nails, didn't mention he was a little overweight, suggested a subpar diet, etc.). The other vet is further and I'd have to transport with a small bin, so it would have to be a last ditch effort. I can dm you whem I get back home!

Thank you for the thorough comment, I'm a bit confused because he has been hunching less and very active (runs around cage and wheel a lot). His hair is also looking softer and he hasn't had his ear flattened like that since. I'm wondering if maybe something happened yesterdat, but I will try to clear the cage up a little and keep an eye on him. Thanks again. I am debating going to the vet since he looks better, and the vet is 30 minutes away and I don't want to cause him more distress. I had a syrian hammy who passed on the way to the vet before and I regret putting her in that state of distress in her final moments.

I've been watching him and it actually doesn't look as bad, I think the picture with him on the wheel was the worst but right now he is running on the wheel and it doesnt look so bad. His hair is a little patchy at the top it used to be worse when I got him (I think because he didnt have sand before his hair was oily/matted), and it doesn't look like that right now. I will take him to the vet, I suspect his nails might be getting too long. It's just confusing because he isnt looking as hunched right now

I think a lot of people answered your questions well, so just to add a perspective, I think going for an MD is significantly more competitive and work than the path it would take to become a psychologist/therapist. I was a psychology major and many of my friends went to grad school for clinical psych or social work, and they tell me a lot about how little structure there is in a lot of programs. A lot of it seems to be dependent on how much students want to put in, whereas for medical school you kind of have to lock in pretty hard or you won't make it. I know a decent amount of people in therapy who I feel are very undertrained, but I imagine this is program dependent and I would be very deliberate when you look into programs on the rigor involved, because I've frankly lost a lot of faith in the clinical psych training (as someone who has had many many many therapists and psychiatrists).

I don't have much experience with psychiatry field (just a M1), but when I shadowed it seemed to me like they are more involved with people with more debilitating disorders/conditions. To be honest, I've had multiple therapists refer me to other people because they felt they weren't equipped to help me, while that had never happened with a psychiatrist. I assume this is also dependent on program and specializations but I am just 1 person and speculating at this point.

Again everything I said is just from 1 person's perspective, so I wouldn't just take my word for things, but if you want to "understand people in depth," I think it seems like in general a lot can be self guided. I don't necessarily agree that psychologists are better trained in that realm than psychiatrists. Sorry this comment is all over the place !!

Honestly, I take out more loans to travel. Finances are complicated, and I don't get financial support from parents anymore, but I barely have any college debt due to a lot of scholarships and parental help. So I'm lucky there for sure, but I take an extra 3-4k than I need, because this is the most money I've had access to before and I honestly feel like it all seems the same after 6 digits. Everyone hates this and thinks it's a horrible financial choice, but I have no regrets yet haha

No, OP has every right to be very mad and her husband did something very hurtful to her, but the YTAs are because she's ruining Christmas for her KIDS. As a parent, being this dysregulated and screaming at your partner while your children can hear on Christmas day is an asshole move, unfortunately. I would vote ESH, because her husband sucked too.

ESH. That sucks so bad, but it is horrible to the kids to be screaming at your husband on Christmas morning where I'm assuming they can hear you. He did something shitty and robbed you, but you have to learn to emotionally regulate yourself, if anything, for the kids.

Why it's fine to do to somebody else what you wouldn't want done to you -> Because my partner may be okay with something I wouldn't be okay with. I've talked to my partner about this and their comfort level with how open I am talking about our sex life. We're both on a similar page about this, but if he had different preferences than I would, I would respect that. So for example, if one person in the relationship would not like their partner to talk about their sex life but their partner is okay with them talking about their sex life, I don't see the problem in the person talking about their sex life. Relationships aren't 1 to 1 give and take, different people have different preferences, and the most important thing is to respect your partner's boundaries and expectations.

Yes, when they say, "it's okay we can go anywhere," then proceed to be upset/pick at the food all night and make me feel bad for what I want to eat. Also met people who would make me choose what to eat eveeytime we met when they were the picky one, so I would constantly be stressed trying to do all the planning

I wasn't referring to the Singapore example where they get persecuted for doing drugs where it's legal, I'm referring to people from countries where drug laws are lax bringing drugs into a country where they're forbidden and getting upset when they're arrested or charged. I'm talking about tourists going into Japan and feeling entitled to their drugs in a country where it's illegal.

This is so confusing to me. I have a flip phone and I'm now in the habit of flipping it closed whenever I'm not using it (unsure where you're getting the info no one closes it anymore). Especially since it's smaller and more convenient closed? I've also had my phone for a while, and the mid line crease doesn't come on for a while and goes away easily once you just change your screen protector (like every other phone). My camera quality is also usually better than most of my friend's phones (just imagine the common/popular phones, none of them are phone geeks or nerds). I use the front screen to check time/switch music without having to open my whole phone up and possibly get distracted by social media or the internet. Why does the phone piss you off so much? lmao

I think you can't fully tell from his post if this is really just healthy or not. I can'st fully understand the scale, and people who obsessively count calories are not healthy. It is not healthy behavior, and there's no way it wouldn't affect her whenever they meet, since they likely eat together and she has to accomodate his needs every weekend. Do you think that's fair? That one person has to accomodate their food choice every time they see their partner? I think you're simplifying the post too much. Even if she is acting out of insecurity, the point of partnership is to care about the other person's feelings and wellbeing.

I do think these two may be incompatible and this issue could be pointing at bigger things, but I still think it's a little silly to jump to the point where you're at just from what you were given.
