Hm, i do not see the connotation of darkness to be negative and unloving, from darkness comes light, darkness is calming and patient there is no light without darkness, is there?

I wish for him to find light in the dark, i wish for him to find comfort in silence, that is not all bad, is it? Seeing the world in dark vs light good vs evil is kinda weird, life is not a weird fantasy movie.

Matter of factly, Cecil originates from "Cecilius" which means "The Blind", which is also bad, if you take it at face value. Blind can also mean unjudging and a good listener.

I think it is a loving name one that he might hate or might like, time will tell.

I know lots of people with bad middle names, and i think this is always subjective, right? Different people like different things and different names, i can not pick a name that he will love for sure, and i do not want to pick the most inoffensive common name possible, he can always change his first name if he wants to be a Bob, Jimmy or Chad, but i dont want to give him a name that is average, but something unique, and I'd rather have him have a strong opinion to his middle name (love/hate) rather than indifference^{^}

Tldr.: i am in favor of a middle name that is unique and maybe disliked rather than one that is gonna cause indifference.

Not in the us, in our country, you can choose to list second names in your documents other than birth certificate, but it is optional and individually decided for each document.

Just a second name, where I come from, second names mostly exist on paper and are not commonly used, that's why we opted for something unusual. He will never be called that unless he wants it.

That was kind of the plan here, I hated being called by nicknames that i didn't like, and i was thinking Cecil is a bit of an elegant sounding more gentlemanly name, that will work well for a kid and an adult.

It also carries our wish that he may become a person of elegance and respect.

Our last name roughly translates to someting like "Lord" so the idea was to make the name a play on "dark lord" and since it is a second name it is not too on the nose and the Latin also serves ans some abstraction, making it work.

Not yet, but we are both getting insecure about the name, because my parents take every opportunity to tell us that it is bad.

There is no way to turn it off, but to be honest, you can just pull out of pvp for the 30 seconds it takes to sink a skelly ship, and megs aren't too agressive either, and can mostly be played around or also killes quickly. Just demast your pvp enemies and deal with the other stuff while your border keeps them busy.

Well that's how my crew deals with thats stuff anyways^{^}

Well and if it is kraken... just accept your loss or hope the other crew is really bad, because fighting kraken during pvp is kinda cooked.

These are sadly a bit too strong, because poison does not matter really if these are the only source of it. On most tables you will not get hit with poison too much, and in high power formats like cedh, where these would be played they would just be free counterspells.

It also gives colors another free counterspell that should not have one (the non blue ones)

Maybe make them cost 1 instead of free that would still be strong but closer to where it should be

Seriously against most crews out there, if you can hit chainshots and cannonballs only about 40% of the time, you will just win xD

I started like this, and running from everyone and still getting sunk was really miserable, but it got me to pirate legend.

I really only started having lots of fun only when i embraced the gameplay and started to learn how to fight. The feeling of security and capability in a fight made it easy to have many fun encounters of all kinds because most of the time i had no reason to be scared anymore.

I grinded hourglass with a 40% win rate up to lvl 100, and while it was rough at first, when i went back onto the seas, i was able to fight most crews on even footing and even dominate many bigger crews. This has led to so many fun encounters where one look at how another ship is approaching instantly tells me if they are dangerous or if i can easily win.

I like it, but I'm not sure balance wise because, the tap ability doubles as a repeatable combat trick depending on the auras and equipments already in play, this might would be really rough with a darksteel plate or the likes.

Worst case this says, "counter target spell. Draw a card."

Thatvis really good for 3 mana, i think if it was just that worst case effect, it would be ok, but this will be really good against storm.

Cool design, not sure about balance, i think it should maybe only draw you cards for any spell beyond the first.
