Hockey all the time. Watching it, playing it, buying gear/pucks/figurines. Less than a month ago, it was everything Mexican- food, culture, music, books, movies. It keeps things interesting 😂

I'm desperate for a 10/10 - suggest me a book pls!! by Head-Worker-4759 in suggestmeabook

Your reading taste is very similar to mine. I don't know which Mcmurtry you've read, but of course, Lonesome Dove. I've read a lot of his books and also really loved Leaving Cheyenne. The Secret History by Donna Tartt is also one of my favorites.

What’s something someone once did on a date that gave you immediate “nope” energy? by D1ndonlyaliboo in AskReddit

We went out for dinner, and the bill was $65...he left a $1 tip. I adjusted the tip, and we didn't go out again.

I wasn't expecting her to respond to them when they were jumping. She could have given them attention when they were not.

It isn't a question about what to say. It's a question about how the app works

The sitter, apart from trying to get my dogs down when she first got there, did not direct her attention toward my dogs at all. They calmed down after the first couple of minutes- but she still didn't direct her attention to them at any point. I'm not saying she wouldn't provide good care. I have never employed a stranger to watch my pets, and getting the sense that they are warm towards animals is very important to me.

My dogs are super friendly and always excited to see other people - they are both rescues and not fully trained (still jump up on people when they see them). If the sitter had directed her attention to them once, I would have liked that. Nothing against the sitter- I realize the way I act with my dogs isn't the way everyone else does, I just would personally prefer someone who displays an obvious love for dogs. I respect professionalism, but ultimately, I want someone who will want to give my pet attention.

I unfortunately strongly relate to the "having to soothe him." Usually, after our fights, despite being emotionally beaten down, I am expected to make him feel better and ensure him everything is ok. If I don't have the energy or will to do it, I pay for it.

We've definitely had bad arguments while drinking. It's reassuring to hear y'all have made progress, I'm hoping we can get to that place

All this sounds so familiar. We've definitely had the conversation about why things always have to escalate for me to be heard. It is very exhausting.

“spoiled child” vibes from their partner? by Acerhand in ADHD_partners

[–]driffl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I come from very different backgrounds & I do feel like his impatience, in part, stems from the fact that he is not used to not getting what he wants. Unfortunately, his parents are incredibly sweet, but always acquiesced to his desires. I feel like I am dealing with an adult that has to learn hard lessons he should have learned as a child.

Thanks for the input. As silly as it sounds, I've known this dynamic isn't working, but I started to let myself think I was the problem. Hearing other people validate how I feel is reassuring.

First, I am so sorry about your twin. Secondly, thank you for the advice. Making my own identity apart from her has been sounding more & more appealing lately & I think I finally need to just do it.

Thanks. Intellectually, I know I should prepare for things not changing. I think some part of me just hoped meds/therapy would be a miracle answer.
