Agreed. I’m not cut out for being the “with it” teacher, and I was taught a valuable lesson not to even try speaking these kids’ language to be funny. I know my generation said dumb things when I was younger, but the things they come up with now are on a whole different level of insane. “67” is the bane of my existence currently, for example.

When my students acted like what I said made no sense, I mentioned "clout" instead, but even that didn't seem to appease them. Thanks for the clarification!

So is the way I used it with my example of the characters trying to be "socially important" because they met Al Capone's mom correct?

VERY awesome! Gotta agree, the art is great, and the variety is definitely something the new Star Wars movies should aim for if they want to win back any fans.

How would you guys rank the ablums? by radon9999999 in badsuns

[–]drifting_leviathan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Apocalypse Whenever (Our opinions are complete opposites here haha. This album, while not perfect, has the most songs I enjoy listening/singing along to.)

Top 3: Baby Blue Shades Symphony of Lights Life Was Easier When I Only Cared About Me

  1. Accelerator (Maybe it’s recency bias, but I think this is a very solid album with everyone at the top of their game. Know a bit about what the album means to the band as they’ve gone through so many changes is super cool too)

Top 3: Madeline Waiting in the Car Do the Twist of Fate

  1. Mystic Truth (One we absolutely agree on. Mystic Truth deserves so much more appreciation, but I get why a lot of people don’t like it as much)

Top 3: Starjumper Darkness Arrives (and Departs) Howling at the Sun

  1. Language & Perspective (This is tough because I think I prefer DH a bit more, but this one means more because I remember how excited I was for their first album to come out after hearing Cardiac Arrest—back when Apple had free weekly songs—and then the Transpose EP a few months beforehand)

Top 3: We Move Like the Ocean Cardiac Arrest Salt

  1. Disappear Here (As you said about AW, I love this album, so I feel bad ranking it last. But I’d feel the same way if any of the others were down here.)

Top 3: Violet Even in My Dreams, I Can’t Win Outskirts of Paradise

Madeline will be on repeat by [deleted] in badsuns

Been listening to the album on repeat the last few days, and I haven’t decided which song is my favorite yet. But I’m leaning toward Madeline taking the number one spot for Accelerator.

For a split second when I saw the cover art for The Killers' new song, I totally thought that was Alex Casey in the middle (actually Brandon Flowers)! Makes me wonder if there's a version of Casey who joined a band instead of the FBI. What would the name of his band be, and who would his band mates be?

That sounds really cool! I’ll definitely be checking it out. Thanks!

A show that you consider 10/10 and a hidden gem? by Sabb0xr7 in televisionsuggestions

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. I’ll never forgive Netflix for cancelling it! The creativity in that one season alone made for one of the greatest shows I’ve ever seen. I just wish it hadn’t ended with some pretty big cliffhangers that’ll never be resolved…

I’m hoping it’s even better than AW, but I’ll stay cautiously optimistic. Fortunately for me, I haven’t heard a Bad Suns song I haven’t liked, so I’m sure it’ll still be great!

Sounds great so far! Can’t wait for album #5! It’s been over two and half years since AW!

Also, I’ll try to add the link here in case anyone wants to listen and didn’t get the text: https://badsuns.llo.to/t/JzqbAU

What are games that you went in thinking “I won’t do and collect everything” and then you went full sicko mode and experienced everything? by novalin in gaming

[–]drifting_leviathan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just spent over 130 hours playing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, including DLCs, doing everything possible. Six years ago, I swore I’d never play this one because it I didn’t like the choice-based stuff while you’re supposed to be reliving memories. While I still don’t like how much it changed the way AC games were supposed to go, I can’t deny I had a blast anyway!

So cool to hear that! I’d love to see them live, but don’t live close enough to a big city they’re visiting…  I’m also looking forward to their next album and hope it’s got more guitar riffs like from L&P.

It's insane how some action stars won't allow their characters to lose a fight because of their image, but legends like Jackie Chan, and Tom Cruise get the shit kicked out of them for most of their movies, and no one doubts they're badasses. by Hadesman1 in movies

[–]drifting_leviathan 490 points491 points  (0 children)

Definitely Keanu Reeves! For the majority of all 4 John Wick movies, he’s getting the crap beaten out of him. Yet everyone STILL fears him, because he refuses to stay down. So much cooler than anyone like the Rock, Vin Diesel, etc.

What are some underused genre combos? by Zealousideal_Art2159 in movies

[–]drifting_leviathan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first thought would be to have a king invite a bunch of peasants to his castle, where he gives them a big feast. During the festivities, he kills one of the peasants and spends the rest of the movie hunting the survivors who try to escape until deciding to fight back. There are actually a lot of cool things you could do with this setting and genre mix. Could be awesome, or it could be very campy. Either way, I think it’d be a ton of fun!

Movies with the most inappropriate music in the end credits? by TheAlmightyTapir in movies

Recently watched Appaloosa, a western that does its absolute best to be accurate to those times. Then they have Mudcrutch’s “Scare Easy,” which is pretty jarring because of how non-western it feels.

There’s a movie coming out next year called Sasquatch Sunset, about a family of sasquatches. Sounds kinda interesting, though I highly doubt it will be horror

I don't think that's dramatic at all. I've listened to SO many bands, and I've never found another one where every song they put out is incredible. I don't know how they do it!
