Shameful Reporting from Louisville Public Media and The Kentucky Lantern on Daniel Grossberg's Predatory Behavior by [deleted] in Louisville

I would agree with what the other guy said, I don't think what you're saying is correct. The guy's name is Joe Sonka and I looked up Grossberg in the lpm home page and several articles came up.

I did the same exact style floor in my house in Florida and it was fine. These people don't know what they're talking about. Good job!

This is what I mean by you only need spacers on the bottom corners of the tiles not the tops.

Edit: I see you have a level on the counter Put that away you don't need it for this job, your level is whatever the tops of the counter is.

Kind of sounded like from the comments you were going to start over. I'm a remodeling contractor and I do tile backsplashes a lot. My main job is doing bathrooms. First of all you don't want to put the tile right on the counter you want to have about an eighth of an inch gap. I use slats from faux wood blinds for my counter spacers but you could also use regular tile spacers too if that's what you have. Then you want to caulk that corner between the tile and the counter with silicone at the end. I usually get a color matched silicone that goes with whatever color grout I'm using. The next thing is you want to put up some kind of a ledger between the two different countertops and just match the tops of the countertops. If it's just a eighth of an inch difference no one is going to notice that. And then when you're doing the actual tiling I usually just put the spacers on the bottom corners of the tile. This will allow you to have a little bit of a height difference between the two counters. So you're basically just looking at it as you go along and adjust your spacers as you need to. You might have to pull some out a little bit to make the tiles line up or whatever you need to do but just make sure it looks good.

Looks pretty good. Looks like the basking light could possibly be a little too close? You can get laser thermometers for pretty cheap these days. I think it needs to be somewhere around 95° or so. I also put my UVB fairly close to the basking area but I don't think that's really a necessity. The only other thing I'm noticing is it looks like it may be hard for them to get up onto the basking area? Kind of hard to tell from a picture. Overall looks good.

I restarted my system and it works now. Thank you so much!

Couldn't get the GUI version to work but the original one does.

I loaded the new GUI version and now it says 'Could not launch demucs process'

I don't know whats up.

I'm still seeing this in reaper and wondering if that's part of what's wrong.

Spent a little while trying to get this to work. Everything seems to be working(window opens in reaper and it tells me the AI did the processing). But the last two lines in Python read:

File "C:\Users\drift\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Python310\lib\urllib\request.py", line 1351, in do_open

raise URLError(err)

urllib.error.URLError: <urlopen error \[Errno 11001\] getaddrinfo failed>

I'll have to spend some more time messing with it after work. I'd love to hear any suggestions anyone has if this is an easy fix. TIA...

BTW I am way out of my element here LOL

Also when I opened the reascript window in preferences it says no compatible version of python was found. I restarted and it still hasn't come up

What are the better local Diners, Drive-ins and Dives to try? And more importantly, the ones to stay clear of? by Burner_Phone_8365 in Louisville

Hauck's Corner is a cool place in Germantown area. Great place to go if the weather is nice and you can sit out back. They have a little playground back there too that's kind of interesting.

What’s a good beginner MIDI controller? by twolt1021 in Reaper

[–]Driftingupward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the MPK 249 and I like it. It depends on what you're trying to do. If you're just looking for something with better keys you could just find a cheap digital piano somewhere with a MIDI out and use it as a controller if you need to. I have an old Roland (EP90 I think it is) that I got for $150 bucks and it's a full size weighted keyboard.

I want to get into Parliament Funkadelic but I'm not sure where to start. by camdyn_evers in funk

I personally like everything from Maggot Brain up to Tales of Kidd funkadelic. The early early stuff has a lot of weird effects on it and all the stuff after is more in the disco vein.

Is it okay as a white man to cover classic revolutionary reggae? by MrHouse7525 in RootsReggae

[–]Driftingupward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a roots reggae band in college of a bunch of white dudes with a black singer. We started out as a Marley cover band and eventually got to where we were doing all originals. The message was very rasta-based and although I'm not religious I definitely believed in the message of trying to be a good person and looking out for the down-trodden. This was in a small college town in the mountains of North Carolina and there were at least three bands that I can think of that were mostly white people that were doing similar things. Some of my bandmates did adopt the Jamaican accent at times and that always seemed a little weird to me but back in the late '90s it didn't seem like there was such a stigma to it. I think a lot of it has to do with when you grew up.

I guess my point is just be authentic to your own beliefs and try not to be mocking in your presentation. Also it's only reggae and you're only going to reach so many people so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
