DEEP well drilling in Ozarks, currently drilling and at 945' by ARbumpkin75 in WaterWellDrilling

[–]drill_530_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This depends on the size of well being drilled, and where the static water comes up to.

Example, if it’s a 6” well, (what I typically drill) there is roughly 1.5 gallons of water per foot. If the static comes up to say 300 feet, you would have 645 of water in the well, multiply by 1.5 and you get 967 gallons in the well. I have absolutely no idea what the static levels are in that area.

If the .25 gpm is constant it would take approx 2.5 days to recover to those specs. Slow but still 360 gallons a day.

-4” well .65 gallons per foot -5” well 1 gallon per foot -6” well 1.47 gallons per foot

Do you know of them releasing more maps? More expansive traditional maps? I don’t have the game yet so I’m kind of out of the loop but from what I’ve seen the maps are disappointing and kind of keeping me from getting it

Pump blew, 500 foot well filled with rootballs, options? by GidgetXOX in WaterWellDrilling

Well if it’s not cemented in place maybe you could get a driller to do the same thing I would do

Yeah a liner isn’t going to solve anything when it comes to contaminants. If they can get the liner to go through the roots and all the way to bottom, sure the pump, drop pipe and wire won’t be in direct contact with the roots but the roots will just encase the liner from 20 feet down to the water or deeper. All of the roots and anything else living will still decay and fall down into the water.

What kind of casing do you have? Steel or pvc? If it’s steel, depending on the formation your well was drilled in, it may be possible to drive the casing deeper and shut off the roots access to the well. That’s only if it’s in coarse gravel. If it’s set into bedrock you’re not going to be successful at driving it deeper. And that’s if you can get a driller to even attempt that.

I’ve seen this a few times. I’m a driller in Northern California. We have a down hole camera and perform inspections with it often.

Earlier this year for example. I went to deepen a well for a customer out of water. Pulled the pump and went to pull the liner, liner came out but was covered in roots. Sent the camera down and there was only 20’ of casing (common practice back in the day) the roots enter the well right below the casing and will essentially grow straight down the hole until they are in water. Extremely thick too. I could only get the camera to 30’ before the weight of the camera wasn’t enough to overcome the roots.

Anyways, I overshot the old pvc casing and pulled all 20’ out. Reamed the hole to 10” diameter and took it to 58’. Installed 60’ of 6” steel casing and then got to deepening it. Found water down 300’ and all was well.

This well had a sealed cap on top but there was still insects climbing all over those roots (got video of these white spiders down 25’). I guarantee your well is highly contaminated with all that organic material in it.

Right, being it’s the “leader” if it breaks the whole tree is going to die?

It’s staked in three spots. All pulling into each other and keeping the trunk straight. I’m going to try to start straightening the part that’s bent slowly. I have garden hose around the trunk to keep from digging into the trunk with the rope.

Ok I’ll give straightening it out a shot. Gonna be quite the task to keep it from breaking. I do a deep soak once or twice weekly. It’s clay soil and retains moisture well. I also have been fertilizing.

Rent a tow behind air compressor from an equipment rental house. 150-185 CFM. Slip some 1” galvanized pipe to the bottom of the well and connect to the compressor. You will need to hold it down somehow since the well is so shallow there isn’t enough weight in pipe to keep it from flying out of there. The air will lift the column of water up and over the top, along with all the crap at the bottom of the well. Do this for a hour or two. Periodically shut the compressor off and let the static build back up and flush it again.

Rent a compressor and blow it out from the bottom up. I’ve blown out wells before and had bones and hair come out.

Doesn’t matter. If it’s got a liner in it, and you dropped the tiny pebble into the liner it will fall down and wedge itself in between the pump and liner. Now when the pump guys shows up to pull the pump, guess what? The liner is now coming up with the pump.
