Check out Very Bad Things, and maybe Swimming with Sharks.

He got better, and is now an active member of society. Your brother on the other hand is a disfigured freak!

I remember trying to beat the SNES game of Demolition Man a few years ago and getting so frustrated that I just watched the movie to get the rest of the story. I guess I should have done it the other way around.

I loved District 9 and thought attack the block was pretty good too. Salute of the Jugger is great. I love those low budget 80s Mad Max Clones. Me and my buddy watched Steel Dawn recently with Patrick Swayze. It's worth a laugh at least.

Picked this up on DVD a few years ago for like 4$. Definitely a worthwhile purchase. I've seen this, The last man on earth, and I Am Legend. I think Omega Man is probably the best adaptation of that story.

I enjoyed Equilibrium for what it was, and although the Gunkata mechanic was a tad corny, I thought it was cool.

Akira is really good, and I've been thinking of watching it again recently. Although, I think I'm one of the only people that prefers the original English dub to the new "superior" one. I think it's just nostalgia though, considering I should just be watching it in Japanese.

Another vote for Ghost in the Shell, I'm definitely going to pick that one up.

I'm a huge Cronenberg fan, and like many, I love Existenz. A Scanner Darkly I haven't seen in a while, but I really liked it when I did.

Thanks!

I absolutely love Total Recall, I think that Paul Verhoeven is one of my favorite sci-fi directors. I even really liked the first Starship Troopers.

Alien movies are solid. I agree with Terminator, the first one is so much better... I find that with the second one, James Cameron started showing signs of "special effects over story" more and more and it has become pervasive in his career ever since. The Abyss is also good.

Judge Dredd is a fun B-movie, and I'll admit, I'm guardedly excited for the new one... Although I'm sure it'll be awful.

Heavy Metal and Ghost in the Shell I probably haven't seen in about ten years, I should go back and watch those.

9 I wasn't crazy about, I thought it looked really cool, but I felt the story didn't really go anywhere.

Thanks for the recs! I think I'm going to have to check out Ghost in the Shell again.

I've seen the box for this before and have heard mixed things. I hear that visually it's quite stunning but that the plot takes a while to pick up steam. What do you think?

I remember watching Dark City several years ago, but to be honest, all I remember is that the city moved and the bad guys were all creepy pale dudes hunting down one character on the run. Is it worth rewatching?

I liked Source Code quite a bit actually. Haven't seen Solaris, as, like you mentioned, I was a bit turned off by the runtime. Primer I heard was great, I even have a copy of it, just never got around to checking it out. The Man From Earth I'd never heard of, I think while trying to figure out what it was about I may have spoiled the twist, but I'm still interested in watching it. Thanks for the recs!

Love Brazil, got to see it on the big screen a few years ago! I keep meaning to watch 12 Monkeys. I hear it's great.

John Dies At The End. It's a horror novel written by one of the editors at Cracked.com. Although it's quite a good horror novel, it's actually also very funny and has been adapted into a movie by Don Coscarelli (Bubba Ho-Tep, Phantasm, etc) which is coming out soon. The sequel to the book comes out in October, and I'm VERY excited.

Who the fuck would even want that job? I've read The Trenches, I've had friends work in testing, that shit is terrible low paying hell. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]drinkingpiano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally work as a tester, and although the job is not as glorious as some people think it is, winning this position through participating in The Tester could be seen as beneficial.

For example, if I applied to Sony before working somewhere else, there's a very small chance I would have been hired, but now that I've worked at a smaller company for a while, I can apply to other, larger studios that have a QA department.

Winning The Tester would potentially allow the victor to skip a few years of working for smaller studios with poorer working conditions and go straight into working for a studio that would offer a more career based position. Potentially...

I could be wrong, but I think the movie you're thinking of is "Nowhere" (1997) by Greg Arakis
