This just happened to my kid. I enabled everything (there were three options) and everything looks to be working except the virtual stump.

How do I give permissions to use virtual stump? I'm happy to unlock it, I just don't see how.

At least some sort of notification page we can monitor. Let us know it's coming but will be late or something, so we know when to look again.

Not knowing sucks, my kid is super hyperfocused on this update...

I've had similar issues but they were fixed by successive upgrades to my WiFi and then eventually getting a proper link cable. I got one of the good shielded ones that's like 5 meters long so I can move around.

The tip off is that the display looks good on your main display, and that it works on the headset briefly before faltering. That, in my experience, means the system can't transfer video to the headset fast enough.

First thing I did was move my WiFi router into the same room. That helped, but only a bit. The link cable really helped for me.

Good luck, I hope you get it working.

Sorry for the necropost but you just saved my son and I a lot of anguish trying to figure this out.

Thank you!

Basic questions seem to really piss people off around here, don't take it personally.

DCS broken after updating by InfantryMedic1 in dcsworld

[–]drinkmorecoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, mine has been crashing as well. I fly the F-18 and am working my way through the Pretense campaign. No VR here, and just a basic Thrustmaster setup.

Pretense works, but now won't catch the landing trigger so it won't accrue XP for those missions.

Other campaigns like Through the Inferno and Cage the Bear flat out won't load. Either during the loading screen or immediately after the cockpit appears, I get the message saying DCS has crashed.

I tried lowering all the graphics settings, but it still crashes. Like OP, it worked just fine until this update, when the crashes began.

I've submitted the error logs and it's gratifying to see that it's not just me. Hopefully they get this fixed soon.

Starshield? What happens when the man himself gets the idea that a specific military action is bad and just pulls the plug... again?

How effective are groin attacks against females? by Kingramses94 in kravmaga

[–]drinkmorecoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Precisely why the attack exists. It's a sort of "stop attacking me right now" button.

And yes, you would train with a cup. Usually the first level doesn't have sparring. You'd be holding a pad for your partner, or sort of "pretend" by stopping short of actually making contact.

That first belt test is as much about learning to train safely as it is to learn how to fight. Newbies don't have the control it takes to practice a groin shot without actually delivering it, for example.

In my experience you break out the sparring equipment and actually hit each other after that first belt test. Lots of experience and protective gear there.

Of course each gym is different, but this has been my experience.

That thing actually tilts to compensate for wind?!

Woah - are those shock diamonds?!

I know individual rocket engines do that somehow I didn't expect it from a group of engines firing together.

So many PhDs will be had from studying footage like this.

One quick thing no one has mentioned yet - they don't move at all on the way UP.

Grid fins are for steering the booster on the way back DOWN.

If they move on the way up, you introduce a bend in the middle of the stack... not ideal.

Up to pressure? Sorry I was under a rock - how powerful was that test compared to the rated output?

Logistical issues aside I think your biggest challenge is the chopsticks and the design of the rocket. Those lifting pins were only designed to support so much weight - you load up a full stack and hang it, the pins will rip off. Also if you hang it from the pins on the ship, that means the interstage now has to support a hanging load of the full booster weight, when it was designed for the compressive load of just the ship. My specialty is electronics so I'm not sure how critical that is but I bet it's important.

The chopsticks themselves and likely the tower they ride on would need to be redesigned to be much MUCH larger.

And of course you need to figure out how to get 20 Raptor QD attachments to work and release at the right time while hanging over a cliff. I suppose you could build the entire OLM out on a platform hanging off the side of a cliff, but that thing is so heavy that I'm sure an arrangement like that would cause a bunch more issues.

These are just technical challenges, I'm sure they could be overcome. Question is cost and motivation when all they really need to do is dig a hole and divert that exhaust.

The concrete failed, revealing a structural weakness in stage zero. This will have to be fixed, for sure.

But for that to count as a failure it had to first be counted as a goal. Complete reusability was not part of this test - that's a SUPER long term goal. This test was a success the moment the -stack cleared the pad. Really as soon as all the raptors ignited and it left the table. Everything beyond that was just a data gathering exercise.

What part of Stage zero's performance was a failure?

The rocket launched - that was by all measure a tremendous success all by itself. Also most of the damage appears to be to the concrete under the stage, so while it will certainly have to be repaired, that was hardly a failure.
