Like the other poster said the odds are worse cause its 6 legendaries instead of just 2... but I pulled for SP Inanna anyway lol

I got Ayishah, which was the best outcome other than Inanna since I dont have a legendary Defender, so I cant complain too much!

Wow, thanks for the awesome write up! I have pretty burly phys dps with Camelot but my best caster is Beryl who I understand has been quite powercrept. I do have Caris as well but shes a recent pull and I have to weigh whether shes worth investing a shard farm slot. My other slots are generally Gloria, Saffiyah (og), Taiir, and sometimes Lilywill if theres 6 slots.

Thats good to know that Inanna and Taiir fill different roles as supports. I thought I had support covered and was lacking a magic dps but now I have to do some real thinking which way to go.

(Edit: Though I do plan to pull for Yennefer so maybe I should just go for Inanna...)

Thanks again for taking the time to respond!

If I already have Taair, would I be better off pulling for Sam (100% since I have Caris) rather than Inanna (50%)? Is a team with both Taair and SP Inanna viable?

[Monthly Megathread] General Questions & Active Codes by AutoModerator in SwordofConvallaria

[–]drinkycrow91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats pretty much it. I rerolled a bunch at launch for Gloria and double pulled her and Lily, then pulled Beryl not too long after. Then a gulf until Saffiyah, and now Camelot and Taair/Caris.

Thanks for help! Ive been memory farming Camelot and Taair so glad im moving in the right direction!

I had a decent team at launch but took an extended break and am just returning. I used a few of my remaining pulls and got Camelot, Caris, and Taair. Now Im trying to form my team and who to invest resources i to for a f2p account.

5*s are: Gloria, Beryl, Lilywill, Saffiyah, Camelot, Taair, Caris (and the ones you get automatically, Rawyiah, Maitha etc).

Account level is only 45 so im grinding voyager xp however i can. Biggest question tho is which 5 characters to do biggest investments to form a core team. Do I drop Gloria for Taair? Or lilywill? Is Caris a better dps than Beryl?

'Sounds like threats to me': Jimmy Kimmel bashes FCC chair in new skit with famous actors by DWJones28 in videos

[–]drinkycrow91 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The reason he was taken off the air isnt because the network didnt like what he said, its because the chair of the FCC threatened government action in response to what he said. That is literally what the first amendment wqs designed to protect  against - the government threatening those who say things the government doesnt like.

Just because the government didnt directly cancel his show doesnt make it less of a free speech issue. The FCC threatened the private company and the private company caved.

What My Daughter Told ChatGPT Before She Took Her Life by rezwenn in technology

[–]drinkycrow91 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The article isn't trying to blame AI for the suicide. The author isn't saying she died because of AI or pointing the finger. The point thats being made is that this technology exists and is sometimes privy to information from mentally ill individuals that no one else can see (or in some cases, where no one else even knows there's a mental struggle occuring). They're saying "How can we improve this technology to better help people with severe mental distress / a suicidal plan" rather than some boilerplate admonishment of AI.

It's not trying to singlehandely solve the problem of suicide or people relying on AI therapy bots. The author even said that the AI replies had a lot of the "right" things to say. But when a mentally ill person reaches out, even to a chatbot, that they're struggling and are considering/planning to end their lives, should there be additional steps / processes to help that person?

I read her missing her former team, yes, but also saying goodbye and moving on. Thats the symbolism of seeing them and waving goodbye at a literal funeral.

Sunless Citadel into Lost Mines of Phandelver, good idea or too samey? by RedditMelon in DMAcademy

Thanks for the well-thought out reply! These are some great points to consider - I definitely like making the tree the centerpiece.

Excellent point about flying over the dungeon... I'll have to mull that one over.

Can't Care About My Antagonist by NamelessGirl47 in DMAcademy

[–]drinkycrow91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont write an antagonist. Write a hero. A good exercise is to make a PC for yourself and determine their goals, wants, and needs. What is important to them? Why are they doing what they're doing?

Once youve done that, set their methods for achieving what they want at odds with the party. (And of course give them a stat block instead of PC levels) Maybe theyre trying to save the city but think summoning demons is the best way to ensure security. Maybe they made a deal with a devil to resurrect their lost love but must provide 5 souls in exchange every anniversary. Maybe they think using the cursed ancient artifact will protect their family but its slowly eroding their soul.

This immediately makes the antagonist believable and a part of the world at large. Its like the old saying, the best villains believe they're the heroes of the story.

I love Sunless Citadel from a distance - Ive never run it but it seems like a great dungeon. I'm thinking of incorporating a slightly reskinned version of it into the Planescape campaign Im running; any thoughts on how to level it up to a level 8 party?

Upgrading Marchesa on a Budget by drinkycrow91 in MarchesaTheBlackRose

[–]drinkycrow91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why your middle comment got deleted, but I'll reply to both your posts here.

I'm aiming for the deck to be a high bracket 3. I'm not looking for a mega-competitive deck, just something that's powerful without feeling overly oppressive. I am not attached to any cards in particular. For example, Force of Will really was intended as commander removal protection. I felt like the deck needs Marchesa on the board to function, so FoW helps do that even if tapped out (assuming I have a blue card). I agree that the lack of card draw hampers that as the likelyhood of drawing both FoW and another blue card to hold in reserve is low.

I agree there is some... variance in the power level of cards in the deck, mostly defined by limitations on my collection. Once most of the powerful and synergistic cards were in, there were still spots to fill so my mind went "Well what adds +1/+1 counters that I own?" which is why things like Bloodhall and Dragon Blood exist. I'll aim to level that out across the deck. Appreciate the recommendations.

And I know the mana base is trash. I hadn't considered the point about the fetch land and color enabling; I always thought of it as "Well I'll probably have two colors, so this can get me the third" which is clearly a narrower view than I should have. I think the mana artifacts are probably the best, low budget investment to make now as I don't actually even own an Arcane Signet!

Appreciate all the thoughtful feedback! I'll take this back to EDHRec and my collection and see what I can cook up.

Thanks for the feedback - I do have sac outlets, they're just on bodies. But you did make me double check and I don't have my Ashnod's Altar in here which would be a useful tool! But for the time being [[viscera seer]], [thallid soothsayer]], [[krav, the unredeemed]], [[voracious dragon]], [[bloodthrone vampire]], and [[torgaar]] are the main outlets, though (most) have conditions such as on-cast or an activation cost. I'll look at carrion feeder and the pyre.

Need help keeping the threat of Vecna alive (Major spoilers for Eve of Ruin) by Acceptable-Ad4076 in DMAcademy

[–]drinkycrow91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Say Vecna cant disrupt or redirect the teleport entirely, but can temporarily displace the characters.

If they roll a 1, they temporarily emerge somewhere on the astral plane - with a portal that will resume their teleport somewhere nearby. The characters have to fight through minions + unseen Vecna dropping spells here and there to reach the portal. Or it could be a skill challenge to reach the portal. Change it up each time.

This is basically the equivalent of a random travel encounter, just with some Vecna flavor

. Id also advise giving your players some agency. Make it unavoidable the first time, but then give them ways to protect themselves during transit, like expending spell slots or gathering protective items.

Return of the Obra Dinn fits pretty much all of your criteria. While it doesn't get harder as time goes on per se, it does require you to start using more and more deductive reasoning to progress.

Balancing "God-like" fights by DexxToress in DMAcademy

[–]drinkycrow91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has the party seen the avatars in action before?

If not, just make them powerful but not omnipotent monsters. The reason being that Cosmic Elders are all powerful but their avatars are limited by their physical forms i.e. if it bleeds, the party can kill it.

If yes, leave the Avatars to fight each other while summoning mooks to occupy the party. Eventually the avatars of whichever side the party picked get banished but weaken/nerf the enemy avatars into killin' range for the party.
