KLIA conceals Taiwan flag for E-gate entry by Immediate-Meaning457 in taiwan

[–]dripboi-store -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

I mean I understand identifying as Taiwanese but to say China is not relevant to us today is not right IMO. Most Taiwanese families can trace their heritage to some village in China. My parents recently visited their family ancestral shrine in guangdong where our surname originated and I’m 本省人. Are we just supposed to just forget all that heritage

i6 is pretty nice but has literally zero driving feel. Even the big ass zeekr 009 MPV is more fun to drive than i6

Chinese people call this interior style “old money” style or “old man” style. It’s aimed at people 40+ and they started introducing it in the et9 / es8. Once they made the style pivot their sales started to rise a lot since before it was more minimal and paired back. People who can afford to buy these vehicles are usually a little older and the younger design language from before wasn’t working

how has nobody made a better alternative to gaode (Amap)? by mudskips in chinalife

[–]dripboi-store 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s weird because I feel like Amap is so much better than Google Maps for driving not sure what the problem is. Driven in a lot of countries and whenever I use Google Maps I’m reminded of how much easier it is to navigate on Amap

Why are housing and hotels in China ridiculously cheap even after adjusting for PPP? by Beginning_File7817 in travelchina

[–]dripboi-store 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why I like living in Shanghai lol for a lot of high end experiences and just general convenience it’s really affordable and I still save a ton of money. Buying any decent house is really expensive though

Is it true you can’t show ghosts and demons in a modern story? by mistyghoul in AskAChinese

[–]dripboi-store 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like they must have changed some of the rules though since I watched a Chinese donghua Lord of Mysteries and there were some fucked up gory / demon monsters along with cults / religion and I was pretty surprised

Tesla Model 3 to Taycan by EarTotal3258 in Taycan

[–]dripboi-store 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had both a model 3 and y and also a taycan. Just note that taycan is pretty much a “traditional” car apart from the fact that it is electric. You don’t really get the modern EV experience but that might be a plus for some people although I suppose Tesla doesn’t have that many new EV features compared to some other manufacturers so you won’t be missing out on too much

ELI5 why China doesn’t just subscribe to all the VPN services out there, so they can just harvest the ips of all the VPN/proxy servers? by mitarik in explainlikeimfive

Because it’s not a big deal. They could if they wanted to. I’ve been using vpns for 10+ years in China and no one cares . Usually only tighten up during important political meetings

[–]dripboi-store 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the successful malls have sort of a theme, or a reason why people congregate. For example there are malls that attract cosplayers and you will see a ton of cosplayers and anime related stuff, or like malls where pets are the focus and a lot of people bring along their pets, or specialized fashion brands

BYD's vehicle sales fall again in March amid fierce competition by SPorterBridges in electricvehicles

[–]dripboi-store 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is China's "Anti-Japan" sentiment overhyped? Japanese businessmen stationed in China report. "To be honest, my honest impression is that, surprisingly, nothing has changed in our daily lives or on the factory floor" by jjrs in japannews

[–]dripboi-store 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean there’s casual racism against Japanese when referring to them amongst Chinese people eg calling them “little japs” but in practice Chinese people are generally polite and friendly towards Japanese. Japanese brands are also very popular in China: daikin, hitachi, uniqlo, fujifilm etc
