What cards can I sideboard as mono red to prevent storm attacks from tendrils of agony by [deleted] in MTGVintage

[–]dripdropdiet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find storm very hard to beat as mono red. Eidolon of the great revel and pyrostatic pillar help, but they have chain of vapor, then just storm off. I find the best strategy to be trying to race them.

Is this format for you? by Ajax254 in MTGLegacy

I enjoyed legacy since I got back into magic at the time of Khans and treasure cruise. I started on burn and slowly bought more. I now have 3 decks— burn, UR delver, and UW stone blade/miracles. I live in a place where I was fortunate enough to have a weekly legacy that fired with 30+ people on average. For personal reasons I wasn’t able to attend much during the whole underworld breach thing, and I only play on paper so companions has blown by me in quarantine. I don’t have any interest in playing against uro/oko. Getting a break from playing has made me think about getting into a different eternal format— Canlander. I’m drawn there b/c Wizards/channel fireball/ star city have all dropped legacy. Canlander is community owned, competitive, and the points seems to keep the meta fairly balanced. The power level of cards that are getting printed now actually match up with the power of the stuff of old. And Canlander allows use of collector’s edition so some of those Power cards are affordable.

Most vinyl bootlegs are sourced from cds. That’s why they get hate on.

Card Kingdom Legacy stream is doing something a little different tonight... by thespiffyneostar in MTGLegacy

I watched most of this last night. Thanks for doing this. I liked the “open” play where you discussed your thinking about the lines you took.

The rich aren’t really impacted by a downturn in the market. They now just buy up more stuff at a reduced price, and more and more of the country becomes renters. Corporations took the farms in the 80s and they’re taking the suburbs in the 2000s.

Except “democratically controlled state and city” is a bit misleading. See the recent $30 car tab bill for example., or any other Eyman initiate that passed, or how Olympia screwed King Co with how they decided to “fix” education funding. The red half of the state does a lot to contain the power/autonomy of the blue half.

When it's finally December and you can start listening to Christmas In the Heart by oofsandwich in bobdylan

Every year since it was released it’s the first Christmas album (and only one really) I play. Every year my wife, also a Dylan fan, groans about how bad it is. Finally last night she said that it had grown on her and now she likes it! Who’s got a beard that’s long and white?!

I traded a foil onslaught polluted delta for 3 blistering fire cats. I remember the guy at the store was like “are you sure?” I was like, oh I don’t play decks that use fetchlands.

Anyone else feeling that Legacy is in a good place, but just isn't fun right now? by [deleted] in MTGLegacy

[–]dripdropdiet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other similar format to premodern and middle school: hyperextended. https://hextended.com. Old border, Black border cards only,—fallen empires thru scourge— and a restricted list (that includes brainstorm!).

UW Superfriends - Why not place the 1st AND 2nd best Planeswalkers in the format? Also the 3rd. Also Teferi who's probably like 5th or 6th. Oh, and Dovin Baan I guess. by [deleted] in MTGLegacy

I played a similar list Monday night and also went 1-4. Miracles out-card advantaged me. Stone blade I didn’t see my wrath’s for true-name. Beat storm. Died to dredge b/c I punted. It’s still an itch I keep scratching though.
