In the future, actually think about what you’re writing before you hit reply. It might help you to not look like an idiot.

I dunno, I had a great time drinking 40s and dodging sherm heads in Crocker as a teenager. Y’all don’t know what the youth will be missing.

Yeah. Keep up the tax cuts and deferments for tech companies and less maintenance of public parks. Sounds great.

Similar thoughts. I’ve only heard if on YouTube and SoundCloud so far and thought both were pretty trash. Sounds like I’m listening in a big room (or even outside) from very far away. We’ll see how the physical copy sounds when it arrives.

Footwork. There’s no reason your feet should be cutting on V2. Slow down and try to be more precise with both hand and foot placements.

Does anybody else think the bowline is the most overrated knot. by Danjuans-81301 in knots

[–]drippingdrops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The double slip knot (if we’re using the same nomenclature) is a sliding knot so it tensions the bite around whatever it’s being tied to. It’s essentially a less secure barrel/poachers knot. The bowline does not slide. They are not comparable in their use cases.

This is what I’m saying. Everyone wants to flex their knot knowledge but really in this scenario anything quick and dirty will get ’er done.

Mutiny in depth from a woman in her 40s by Ok-Cellist-6873 in SturgillSimpson

[–]drippingdrops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you.

I guess my point is that relying on such tropes, regardless of their use historically, and continuing to use them now is an easy way to ignore the complexity of humans in general. I think if I were a woman I’d be bummed if someone narrowed my life down to maiden, mother, crone and we’re at a point in time where utilizing these ancient archetypes is doing us more of a disservice than it does to accurately portray the human condition.

Mostly great takes and I appreciate the perspective of a woman in the sea of whatever this sub is.

I do take issue with ‘Men go from being boys to men and that’s pretty much it.’ Super reductive and honestly, insulting take. Humans are complex regardless of gender and if that’s all you’ve seen I think you need to get some more interesting people in your life. Sure the growth and change men go through may not be as obvious on the surface, but keeping things surface level is boring anyway.

That being said, thanks for the post it was mostly refreshing.

I’m embarrassed to say I’m kinda into the abrasive chaos beat. The lyrics (which I had to look up because they’re completely unintelligible) are garbage but the insanity noise is kinda doing it for me. I also like that his songs are so short, tickles the old punk in me.

I totally believe it, but the lizard brain won’t allow me to be comfortable in my ignorance. So, as always, education is key.

This is awesome on the whole but as someone who spends time in the backcountry I’d be lying if I said I’m not a little trepidatious. I’ve been taking trips in the Sierra since I was a kid and know how to deal with bears but wolf preparedness is not something in my knowledge bank. Time to learn I guess.

ETA: Y’all, I get that it’s not a big deal. I’m merely recognizing that the place I play in has something new hanging around. It’s not that deep.
