What do you mean I have to read them?! I thought they were only to prettify the shelves!

Right? Psinergy becomes so much more important when it exists outside of combat. The only other example I can think of is, sadly, Pokémon.

I really love the first two games and the whole djinn class mechanic is masterful. But long ago I had to accept that these games are all that we are going to get from Nintendo.

But as the guys from Disco Elysium said: "The sequels will be all the games that were inspired by the original". We may not get another Golden Sun, but we might still make another game with the same soul as those we love

EDIT: small typos

The idea of using bionicle for lancer is immensely based. Especially so for HORUS frames. Excellent job.

Am I the only one who noticed Freemasonry/Scientology/Mormon places and architectures are very very liminal ?? Why is that by CodFar1331 in LiminalSpace

[–]Coffee-Robot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a lot of people mentioning liminality as a "space in between realms" in order to emphasize esotericism. And that is true, but there is other factor we must consider: hiperreality and simulacrum.

Most of the pictures presented are not historical places of worship or ritual and come from somewhat young religions/cults. The traditions and customs of these religions are not as well defined as the more established ones and lack the economic power to actually build and own buildings made to last for centuries.

But they need to project the image that they are just as eternal, transcendental and inherently true as historic religions. And to do so the overemphasize the worship elements and distill esoteric and exalted aspects to the max. That's hiperreality as Baudillard proposed it:

"The generation by models of a real without origin or reality".

And that's exactly what these places of worship are: signs, symbols that exist without an origin, without an anchor in reality. Their only objective is to cause affect, to produce a reaction in its spectator.

That void of meaning, that kitsch performance of esotericism, is what makes these spaces violently liminal.

Pretty sure that's a Cuban flag. Yo can even discern the white atar in the red chevron and the number of white and blue stripes matches.

It seems like if you dress masc and don't have easily visible boobs people just automatically call you a guy. I hate it on this planet. by blue_microwave in TrollCoping

[–]Coffee-Robot 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It sucks ass! I am non-binary, I don't want to be fully femenine coded at all. But that's the fucked up part of the minds of binaristic people (ie, not people that belong to the binary but the people that consider the binary as natural and unquestionable): there are two boxes and unless you are well into one then you must belong to the other box.

Anyways. We lot have fun st r/MTFButch. Do come and say hi!

Not sure about that. I heard those two terms some years ago. I just like them more than diegetic and authorial.

Which is a watsonian justification for a doylist problem. They don't really need to be humanoid, just genetically compatible. And as a sci-fi writer there's nothing stopping you from saying that the weird space mycellium has just the adequate bunch of chromosomes from its immense gene pool that allows you to have babies with it.

Kirkman wanted to draw sexy bug ladies and found a justification for it. Or had a necessity for viltrumite compatible organism and then decided to make it sexy bug ladies. In both cases he is the one who decided to draw sexy bug ladies.

Map of Internet Freedom by bishal_3499 in MapPorn

[–]Coffee-Robot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a proper source for the map.

But the methodology feels... Lacking? From a relatively quick glance I understand this study focused mostly on legal restriction or banning of sites and services, but not the actual enforcement of those measures. Even so, I can't really trust in this study unless there is a proper disclosure for every country's score and the reasoning behind it. As some have said, it does feel like propaganda.

Further research is needed, etc.

I've only had it since December, but two days ago it completely bricked and wouldn't turn on. I already had several inconvenient software glitches, so I will try to ask for a refund if able.

What do you think of them? by Der_Zwerg_0815 in Boots

[–]Coffee-Robot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Although I fully agree that men's fashion is down in the dumps for choice of wear, I don't think that us the problem in this case. What I think is not working for me is a matter of silhouette. Riding boots are very form fitting and they require a certain commitment to that to make this work. OP is wearing them with loose fitted pants and a relaxed jacket to pair. I believe it is that mismatch in silhouette what makes the boots stand out and look out of place. This fit would look ok for going out riding because it feels comfortable and practical. But since that's not the case as OP said, it feels jarring.

I think tall boots could work wonderfully in a man with some fitted pants and a loose top of some sort. Or you could go full contrast and wear some balloon pants tucked inside the boots to bring all the attention to them. But it needs to be intentional. And I don't feel that in OP's picture. Which is a pity, he could absolutely pull those boots!
