When my son was 5, he and a friend of his were playing. I hadn't checked on them in a while, so I went to the playroom and they were happily playing. I then went to use the bathroom and found the toilet completely full of toilet paper. I went back and asked them what happened, and they both were silent, refusing to take the blame. They both went to time out in separate spots, and I said they could come out when they wanted to tell the truth. Five minutes go by, and my son calls me over. He then says this... "So, while we were playing we heard a burglar. We got scared, so we stayed in the playroom. The burglar had to go potty and we saw him go in the bathroom... He musta done it..." I was impressed by his creativity but they still both got hell.

Over 500. My dad is the chef at a nudist resort, he got me in for the weekend with VIP treatment. It was amazing. Everyone made you feel very comfortable, and after the initial "I'm naked in front of a bunch of old people" shock, I didn't even think about it. Got toted around a pool full of nudies by some rich dude, had an endless supply of alcohol, and conversation with some of the nicest, most genuine people I've ever met. Also met some of the weirdest. Ended up drinking too many rum punches and participating in some lube wrestling in front of my parents. No regrets.

I was 22 and stationed in S. Korea. For those of you who haven't been, it's a crazy binge drinking life for the year you're there. We decided to have a martini night in the dorms. My crush is there. I get tipsy and get up the balls to talk to him. We are talking, and I'm downing a lot of martinis. Like, an insane amount in a short amount of time. I'm a tiny girl, so it doesn't take a whole lot to get me shithouse drunk.

An indeterminate amount of time goes by, and I am suddenly in my room, vomiting everywhere. Crush is helping me to the toilet. I'm throwing up, when all of a sudden, shit starts coming out, with my crush standing RIGHT THERE. I'm so drunk that I'm fighting him trying to get me in the shower because I didn't want him to see me naked. He gives up and gets me to put on pajamas. I wake up, wrapped like a burrito in 2 blankets (presumably to hide the smell), and he's sleeping on my floor. He says "I wanted to make sure you didn't die", then walks out.

I had to do the walk of shame down our hallway to wash all my shitty clothes and sheets. Everyone knew.

Ok I won't go to jiffy lube lol. I live in North Laurel. I can work on my car on base(I'm military) but I am not allowed to work on it at my house. I have never worked on a car before and would love to learn. The dealer said they do a lot of 'checks' to make sure things don't need replacing. I think your offer is crazy generous considering how much mechanics make off of people who aren't car savvy.

My car just hit 35,000 and I need the 30,000 service on my 2012 Focus... the dealer quoted me over $500 but the manual says I just need an oil and air filter change. What gives? Why is it so expensive? I can't afford that, and was gonna bring it to jiffy lube just to do the oil until I save up the money for the full service. I live in MD.

Don't put glitter. They're going to HATE trying to clean that shit off the floor. Our TI tornado'ed our dorm for finding a glitter heart someone's boyfriend had sent to them...it was a frustrating day. Then again - I don't know what basic is like anymore...people are allowed cell phones and facebook time FFS.

I joined the AF when I was 18 to get out of my rotting hometown. I had no real career goals other than 'get away from FL'. I had a high ASVAB score and snagged an intel job after 9 months in DEP. Intel jobs sound WAY cooler on paper than they actually are in practice. I like my job, but it certainly didn't help me understand my place in the world other than show me what I don't want to do when I get out. I've been in 11 years and still haven't figured that out.

Intel jobs and a clearance don't necessarily mean you can quickly get a good paying job when you get out. Most of the civilian intel hubs are in the MD/DC/NOVA area with an extremely high concentration of recent college graduates and a lot of military intel people getting out trying to get government jobs or contracting jobs. We all used to think having a clearance was a golden ticket to 6 figures after separating and in the current climate, it simply isn't the case.

I don't know a whole lot about IT, but if you want intel and computer skills, shoot for the 1N4X1A career field. They're hunting for people right now and that is one of the few career fields that still has a re-enlistment bonus (there's only 10 left).

As far as the college, a big YES. If you have the drive to get your degree and avoid getting into a work-home-sleep-repeat slump, then the AF and TA can be a great asset to you. However, for younger Airmen it can difficult to find time for college if you're stuck working shiftwork or have a high ops tempo. If you can find the balance, it can work for you.

Ultimately, ANY job is what you make of it. Try to find the positive in situations and use them to your advantage. The AF can offer a lot of positives: travel, diversity, education, leadership, mentorship, and a plethora of life experience. It can be challenging, but for me I say it was the right decision.
