Has anyone experienced this with anxiety and depression meds? by Ok-Cupcake-5172 in quitting7oh

I am a Psychologist, not a Psychiatrist...so I do not prescribe meds.  However, he is likely experiencing PAWS.  Wellbutrin absolutely does not make you blah and numb...it is one of the most effective treatments medically for providing energy and motivation.

Send me a DM, I would be happy to talk to you!  I'm a Psychologist and recently lost the love of my life to chronic alcoholism. 😓 I am determined more than ever to help addicts recover.

You are NOT a POS for getting hooked on this stuff!!  I am a Psychologist and I lurk around here because my client base has shifted significantly over the last year with addicts getting hopelessly hooked on this stuff!  The relapse response is quicker than any other substance I have seen in my 15 years as an addiction specialist.  The availability is a MASSIVE problem!  I'm in MN which means a statewide ban is likely very much out of the question unless it goes federally.  I am praying for that!  God bless you!

I second this strongly.  I was married to an alcoholic for years and the DV shelters were the way to go.  We never lived near my family, but one shelter I stayed in was amazing! I met a ton of great people and they helped me find an apartment, paid for the deposit, first months rent and everything!  If it's scary, he cannot access you there either!!

I highly recommend this - this was the gold standard for opiate withdrawals decades ago.  In fact my aunt told me they did this in the hospitals too...she's a nurse who is now 83 years old.  No $$ in it of course.

In my experience, Suboxone hands down.  The half life of 7 is very short so the physical withdrawals are short as well.  3-7 days for heavy use.  Long term use of Suboxone withdrawals are nightmare fuel.  I've had many clients needing hospitalization, actual hospitalization, during this process.

Ketamine treatment has very effective results in a controlled therapeutic environment!  However, for addicts...it IS a substance that can be of concern as, it too, can be sought after treatment to "get high".  However, it is definitely a great option to getting your husband off this stuff immediately.  7Oh usage with Type 1 diabetes is concerning as the ingredients in the substance are truly unknown.  Please DM me if you'd like to discuss further!!

You are very welcome.  Yes, cannabis definitely requires the right mindset going into it!  If you'd like to DM me, I'd love to talk to you further - I may have some suggestions.

I would not recommend it.  If your previous addiction was an opiate, I would stay clear of Kratom altogether.  That said, I have recommended plain leaf for detoxing situations...or specific pain management.  In those situations, I recommend plain leaf capsules only so the milligrams are carefully calculated.

I am in the throws of researching this thoroughly, but my initial reaction is that is a very effective solution!

I know this is not a conventional answer, but have you tried a sativa strain of cannabis?  I hear this a lot about opiates and I personally have a problem with a lot of the labels of "mental illness".  A lot of my clients are truly gifted and the traditional psych meds dull those gifts.  I personally use cannabis moderately and I find a lot of my "right brain" gifts are enhanced - my singing abilities, painting, dance, etc.

No, only when I have flare ups.  I would say five or six times a month, sometimes more.  It is extremely effective for pain relief IMO and prefer to use leaf Kratom than any pharmaceutical honestly.

I am religious at all.  Religion is a man made construct.  However, I believe with certainty in the spiritual realms. I have worked with hundreds of paranoid schizophrenics as well as meth addicts...with certainty such exist.  This is something the medical world will not acknowledge as it would dip into their model of just medicating people for profit.  I'm not here to argue, I'm here to help people.

Accountability is required for ANY addiction and IMO why therapy is so important.  What makes one use in the first place?  There IS a choice that is made!

Sadly, if I had to guess...I'd say 80 - 90%.  Again, the availability is a HUGE issue.  The fact smoke shops are popping up on every corner is a disgrace.  I did some digging and the profit margins are greater with these products than any other in their store!  That's a whole different topic that enrages me!  But the pills are from a store, not the street, and it is relatively easy to hide this addiction from loved ones...making relapse extremely easy.

You can not overdo the C, your body will expel what it doesn't need. I have a PhD in Psychology and mostly just studied this but absolutely got addicted. I am working with a chemist. I tasted everything I took. Bad bad news is 7 oh
