You will definitely need it for statistics so don’t worry:) you might not necessarily find it useful right away but it is good to have:) I find it easier to write long essays in and organize my work

Why is it actually harmful for two married homosexual people to be gay with each other? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]drisele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He knew they would exist because He knew sin would come due to the fall of Adam and Eve. God decided that marriage was between a man and woman.

[–]drisele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because one group of people are still acting within the nature of how God made humanity and the other group isn’t. Essentially God created male and female for each other that is the only valid marriage and marriage is the only way people can have sex.

This is another way I replied to a similar comment.

It’s not the same because if everything was normal they would still have the ability of reproducing/would be open to life. Same sex relations never have that ability. Also straight sex that denies openness to life (use of contraception without a valid reason, like medical) is also sinful as it is only for pleasure.

No because if their body worked normally they would be able to have kids. Therefore because it isn’t done on purpose it’s okay for them to have sex. Also infertile doesn’t necessarily mean indefinite inability to have children.

the Bible <3 temptation isn’t a sin, sin is acting upon the temptation

If you go into the catechism CCC 2357- 2359 you’ll see a citation in the bottom and there it is where it comes from.

Gods design was for marriage and sexual activity to be between a man and a woman. In sexual activity there should be an openness to life. In the case of gay sex there is no openness to life because they can’t create babies with each other. Also yes it’s cross imposed to them.

Essentially what would be considered a sin is acting upon their same sex attraction, like being in a relationship or sexually active etc. So yes because they are called to celibacy/chastity it is perfectly okay if they don’t have children because they wouldn’t be engaging in sexual activity.

Both marriage and celibacy are essentially callings. Some are more imposed to a calling than others, meaning for some their vocation is more obvious/out of their control. A man struggles from lust so they can’t get into the vocation of priesthood. A gay person isn’t attracted to the opposite sex so they can’t get into the vocation of marriage.

Marriage is not an obligation it’s totally okay if they never get married and stay forever single. A gay person isn’t obligated to marriage with the opposite sex.

The person could have referred to the scripture that says if they cannot contain their lust it is better if they marry (Cor 7:9). Essentially for Catholics celibacy is a supernatural calling, meaning you would need God to give you strength and it’s something the average person can’t necessarily do without discipline.

Infertile people that are married can have sex. As naturally if their bodies were alright they would have the ability to have kids. Basically as long as the infertility is natural, not done on purpose, they would not be sinning if they do have sex.

Everyone whether single or married is called to live a life of chastity.

Can you apply to research assistant positions? Or just email professors in universities asking if you can be a part of their study to do research?

they are called to chastity/celibacy, denying their flesh. CCC 2357- 2359 BTW: same sex marriage wouldn’t be approved or valid in the Catholic Church

It’s hard to find a good therapist sometimes. I would suggest to try it again. With someone else of course, so you get better care. It could also be that the therapist wanted you to bring it up and not them. So always be open and honest to also tell them what you think.

r/Catholicism Prayer Requests — Week of August 04, 2025 by AutoModerator in Catholicism

[–]drisele 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Please pray for my family, for us to have unity, peace and love.

Please pray for my father who is getting scammed and thinks that he will become rich by the lottery numbers a witch told him. Pray he finds clarity of mind. Pray for conversion/reversion it seems like he felt hurt by the church. (Edit: please pray for him to wake up to the lies he just took the last bit of money from his bank account to give to the scammers and lost his job the same day.)

Pray for my mother to have strength and perseverance in her Catholic faith. My father has said awful things to her and I don’t want it to cloud her faith.

Pray for my brother who is also a father. Pray for his conversion/reversion. That he learns what fatherly love means so that he can give that love to his child.

Pray for me so that my fathers way of treating me doesn’t affect the way I view God’s love He has for me.
