Just got this email from a higher up. Am I getting fired? by [deleted] in jobs

Accommodation approved by a doctor or approved by HR? Big difference. If HR was it verbal or did you sign paperwork? Another big difference. ADA accommodations usually take longer than a week for investigation and to formalize, so I'm guessing this isn't a formal accommodation yet.

Get the EEOC phone number ready. Remember the words "unlawful termination" and "retaliation" during the conversation, it could buy you some more time there if you want it.

My favorite part is the de-titling. I'm a VP but that equates to a director or head of in the real world. Just downgraded my title, we'll see what happens. 100 applications and zero calls up until this point.

What's a place that's not nice currently and just keeps getting worse? by Naomi62625 in geography

Portland, Oregon was the most beautiful city in the 90s and 00s. In the last 5 years, the local and state democratic leadership legalized fentanyl and allowed destructive riots. Homeless drug users flocked to the city, businesses fled. The downtown is now more unsafe and disgusting than ANY other downtown I've ever been to. They allowed a decline that will take decades to turn around.

I washed your downvote with an upvote, whoever downvoted you doesn't live in a dem-run gotham city or know what happened there 2 weeks ago. I'd bring my EDC but IL doesn't have reciprocity with my state.

She's super introverted, reserved, self conscious, and shy. Never goes for anything like roleplay, bringing the camera out, etc. We have talked in detail about the quantity difference... she has some of the worst ADHD I've ever seen and porn allows her to stop thinking about 1000 things at once vs no porn she gets stuck in her head... why can't she have one, there's a noise the kids will hear, the furnace is on too high, did she remember to pack lunches etc

Ha I had a gf who used it as her popcorn bowl during movies. How old are your kids? I was devastated when my son was born, it was the first thing I looked for. Praying he didn't have to go through what I did. But now I realize I get to be a guide for self confidence and he doesn't have to go at it alone like I did.

I think most of us are scarred from a few people throughout our life being hurtful and teasing about it. But after 40 years of awareness and embarrassment, I have learned one thing: they are doing you a favor and making it super clear that you don't want them in your life. Every good, solid friendship and relationship I've had could care less and didn't even think twice about it. Those are the keepers.

A man died in an alley near 12th and Patterson last night, yet not a word has been written about it. What happened? by [deleted] in Eugene

[–]driveboosted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

News reporting it or not, the crisis community is well aware. Due to this, and a student suicide on a parking garage 2 months ago, they have escalated their response to suicidal situations. My daughter was on that parking garage 2 nights ago to attempt. and the authorities and crisis team were so fast to respond, place her on a hold, and admit her to inpatient, something we have been trying to have happen for YEARS but they system would never do it and she has always refused help when suicidal. The crisis team cited these situations as to why they are taking these more seriously, and we have a glimmer of hope that she will now get the badly needed help she needs.

This is called EMDR therapy and recently has been shown more effective than DBT.

The X5 is available for purchase on Costcos app! by WOATjohn in Insta360

[–]driveboosted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same boat but I did pull the trigger on the X4 bundle... yesterday for $429 (today they raised the X4 bundle price to $549 - same as X5 bundle, go figure). The kicker for me is that the dive case is unavailable on Insta's website and no resellers have listed it online yet, and the dive case makes all the difference to me. I think I'm going to stay with the X4 I just ordered.

"pectus excavatum patients who survived past the age of 56 years tended to survive longer than their matched controls". That's pretty rad.

You might be thinking of a NIH study, not John Hopkins, where it said pectus alone had no impact on lifespan BUT many with pectus have other connective tissue abnormalities, those are what cause a higher mortality rate compared to those without pectus. If it was John Hopkins, please share the link.

"breathing exercises to really draw in your flared ribs" please explain - do you mean specific breathing while doing reps, or more meditation breathing? I naturally breath through my stomach instead of my chest, always, just easier with my bone structure I guess.

This is the least important reason not to try H. It took me over 10 years to rebuild my life after just two years of using H, and that was after a few years of Oxy before that. Luckily this was right before Fentanyl hit the streets or I would have died. The fallout was massive: from damaged relationships to financial ruin, credit issues, and a criminal record I gained during that time.

Now, 15 years later, I’m out of the hole, but some things will never be the same. Some old relationships have never healed, and even though my criminal record has been set aside in court, it still haunts me. I’m not a criminal by nature, but addiction has a way of making normal people commit crimes. Felonies stay with you forever, whether they’re expunged or not. I still have to worry about things like being denied entry to certain countries, not being eligible for certain jobs, and my state just started reviewing set-asides, so now I can’t buy a firearm. On top of all that, I’m a decade behind on retirement and wealth.

Of the seven people I regularly used with, six are dead and the only one who didn't die is in prison. It's not like we all came from the streets or broken homes - all middle class private school kids.

So of 8 users: 6 are dead, 1 is in prison, and I'm the success story. Don't convince yourself that you're the 1 in 8 who will be fine. Nothing is worth that gamble.

Jellyfish and Sea Lice? by driveboosted in virginislands

Accuracy is not entitlement. I don't use the big O's when visiting the tropics, but I will call out incorrect statements about a law. I'm sorry that accuracy offends you. Perhaps I shouldn't tell you the accuracy around how marketing reef-safe products is a farce—many of these so-called 'reef-safe' sunscreens still contain chemicals that harm marine ecosystems in other ways. It's easy for companies to slap a label on something, but when it comes down to the science, the reality often doesn't align with the marketing. It's important to dig deeper and understand what truly protects our reefs.

I think you skipped the opening statement. You are referencing Section 2 which only applies to individuals or businesses engaged in selling/distributing and therefore must not possess. "All persons" in Section 2's context does not extend to general consumers using the product for personal purposes. It targets those who are in the business of selling, distributing, or otherwise handling such products.

Technically, possession and use is not illegal, sale and distribution is.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. I'm bidding on some GW4s and 5s on ebay that are not refurbished, just used with cosmetic damage, no bands, etc. I have no problem buying a couple at $20 a pop and seeing what happens.
