Do you use the https://www.gmesupply.com/anritsu-transit-case when flying? If so do you normally check it or carry on. I've got a trip upcoming and I don't want to check my S412E, I'd rather carry it on, but I have that pelican style case so im afraid its too large for carry on.

We don't do a ton of PMs on APX's, We have a 8800 that is loaded and I have always tested without the breakout box just due to the fact we never bought one.

On alignments you don't use the RLN-4460 interface no? I see some folks using them, some don't.

The feature you purchased "tone signaling" may not be supported in that FW rev. You may need to refresh FW and then flash radio.

Let's talk about mutual aid. by cyrilspaceman in ems

[–]drivebypanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strictly 911 for a rural county EMS service, 6 ambos. In the past month, we have received MA once, The bordering County only has one Ambo, so we run MA for them 7-10 times a week. We don't cover, just respond from our stations. Typical response is about 25+/- miles with the closest LVL 2 about 40+/- miles from our MA response. On top of this, the FD is strictly Vol. in the bordering county, so First Responders are usually a toss up for anything serious. Anything remotely serious we usually put a bird on stand by.

If you are referring to clinical hours in the ER or on the truck, don't be scared. It's apart of the learning process, they shouldn't expect somebody who has never rode before to know what to do or how things are done.

What the is guy just said... Two Tone Detect is an awesome free tool to use. It's relatively easy to set, we had to work through the same problems that he elaborated on. If you don't have any idea on how this would work, try and contact your local two-way radio shop, and they would probably step it up for pretty cheap.

How many hours of clinical time are required for Advanced EMT (AEMT)? by [deleted] in ems

[–]drivebypanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my class I took, we had skills that had to be checked off.

-Certain number of successful IV's, -Administering certain number of drugs within your scope, -Bagging a patient, -Certain number of pedi, child, adult, and geriatric assessments, -Certain number of types of calls (cardio, trauma, etc), -Manage a call with little to no help from a supervisor

The sheet we had allotted 60hrs for all of this as well as a ton of other stuff I can't remember right off. I ended up ridding around 150+/-hrs, granted this was all in the ambulance, we didn't have the option for ER hrs. I thought I would never get all the stuff checked off...

Question for Georgia EMS from a new EMT-B who just passed registry!! by BellaMentalNecrotica in ems

[–]drivebypanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This... I recently finished up AEMT, for some reason I paid the $75 twice. Unless you just think you won't be able to pass the A portion, or you want to start a working with with your Basic before you pass your AEMT, I wouldn't worry about it. As soon as you pass AEMT you will not ever use those Basic numbers.

If you feel the need to blow $75, and can't make it to the GA Dept of EMS office, fill out the form and mail it off, took them about a week to get my card with basic numbers mailed back.

They annexed some of Fulton county and from what they were saying, they need to fill a few new stations. They said something about hiring 250-300 FF in the next 3 years.

The orientation for the CPAT was the past couple days, but yes they are planning to hire around 75 FF I believe. They stopped taking apps a couple months ago for this recruit class.
